There was a movie that came out in the 1950s called Windjammer. It was in the new process of Cinemiracle to compete with old already established wide screen Cinerama. It had a musical soundtrack of many sea songs. One such song, in the same tune of "Can't You Dance The Polka" was entitled, "In The Village Of New York". The Chorus went " All the way from Norway, It's Lemon Juice & Pork
But the Food & The Wine & The Girls are Good
In The Village Of New York.
I think there were 4 or 5 stanzas to the song & I am looking for all of them. SOL ZELLER

According to Soundtrack Collector, VILLAGE OF NEW YORK was written by "Gilkyson-Dehr-F. Miller." That would be Terry Gilkyson, Rich Dehr, and Frank Miller, who performed together as the group The Easy Riders. The song was written for the film, and I can't find any evidence of it having been recorded anywhere except on the soundtrack album.

There is more information about the film here and here.

Alas, I was unable to find any lyrics or sound clips.

However, a quote nearly identical to yours appears on this page, written by Julie Dietrich. She is quoting her father, Jerome Larson, who sang the song. You might try contacting her through the web site manager, who is, I think, her brother David Larson.

Thank You Jim. I e-mailed David Larson with my request and he answered me almost immediately. He said that his father, Jerome would be e-mailing me the lyrics in the next few days. As soon as I receive them, I will post them on this thread for the benefit of our group. SOL ZELLER

Would that be the village of New York in the south of Lincolnshire (UK)?

Here are the complete lyrics to the song, courtesy of Mr. Jerome Larson & his son David from Minnesota, who has the original soundtrack album from the movie "Windjammer."

CHORUS: All the way from Norway, it's lemon juice and pork,
But the wine and the food and the girls are good
In the village of New York, in the village of New York.

They say in New York harbor there's a lady in the sea.
She holds a light that shines so bright in the land of liberty,
And we love liberty.

They say the buildings grow so tall they push away the sky,
And if you drop from off the top from hunger first you will die,
From hunger you will die. CHORUS

They say the subway runs for miles way underneath the ground.
A friend of mine went there one time and he never has been found,
He never has been found.

They say the elevators go like rockets in the air.
Your ears go pop and when you stop, your stomach is not there,
Your stomach is not there. CHORUS

They say they never dim the lights along the Great White Way.
When day is done, the midnight sun comes out like in Norway,
Comes out like in Norway.

They say the girls are buxom like the wind that's in the sails.
They dress in pants and when they dance, they swing their ponytails,
They swing their ponytails.

CHORUS
Songwriters: Terry Gilkyson, Rich Dehr, and Frank Miller, who performed together as the group The Easy Riders
