Subject: RE: Review: Blues Project / SingerSongwriter Proje From: Chris in Wheaton Date: 04 Jun 04 - 02:18 PM Love the Blues Project - there is tab for Winin' Boy on a Jorma site - Jorma went to college with Ian Buchanan - if not, would there have been an Airplane? In any event, I recommend getting a Archos mp3 recorder - you can hook it right to the stereo headphone jack and record a cd very simply. Someday maybe they'll have an lp scanner that saves all the hassle. Hope that they reissue the Old TImey Project too. Chris |
Subject: RE: Review: Blues Project / SingerSongwriter Proje From: JojoMojo Date: 03 Jun 04 - 07:47 PM The three Elektra KRG albums are still available on Red House. Check out Amazon. The CD of "Lots More Blues Rags and Hollers" also has the Koerner and Ray tracks from "The Blues Project" as bonus cuts! |
Subject: RE: Review: Blues Project / SingerSongwriter Project From: Easy Rider Date: 03 Jun 04 - 07:04 PM Thanx, Mark: I have a cassette tape of "The Blues Project" and the original vinyl of "The Singer Songwriter Project", and I would make you a CD of "The Singer Songwriter Project" if I had the setup. Never fear, though. I have a fancy new computer, with a CD burner, and I plan to connect my stereo system to it and copy my entire record collection to CD, as soon as I figure out how. when I figure it out, I'll be able to make the double CD I am talking about, one part from the Vinyl, one from the tape. Talking about these records reminds me of the Koerner, Ray and Glover records of about the same time period. does anybody remember them? I still think someone should reissue this set commercially, and I wish I knew who we could prevail upon to do so. |

Subject: RE: Review: Blues Project / SingerSongwriter Project From: Mark Ross Date: 03 Jun 04 - 11:19 AM I've got a copy of the BLUES PROJECT, but I can't make a CD(can get a tape copy). Wanna trade for Singer/Songwriter? Mark Ross |
Subject: Review: Blues Project / SingerSongwriter Project From: Easy Rider Date: 03 Jun 04 - 10:48 AM Back in 1965, Elektra released two historic collection albums some of us older Catters might remember. They were: "The Blues Project", "The Singer Songwriter Project", EKS7299 These were collections of performances by the best White Urban blues players and singer songwriters of the time, people like Danny Kalb, Dave Van Ronk and many others whose names I can't remember right now. Many of you will remember and might even have these albums. I would LOVE to see these two albums reissued on CD. Wouldn't you? I have the Singer Songwriter one, but I only have a tape of the "Blues Project", my original album having been stolen years ago. The question is: Who can we write to, to encourage them to get the rights from Elektra and reissue these two albums, as a single CD? Meanwhile: If someone has the two albums and would like to burn a CD for me, please get in touch, via Mudcat email. I'm finally learning DVR's "Bad Dream Blues", from the Blues album, and it would be a big help to hear the original. Thanx |
