Is this it?

A Cherokee Blessing

May the warm winds of heaven blow softly on your home,And the Great Spirit, bless all who enter there,May your moccasins make happy tracks In many snows,And may the rainbow Always touch your shoulder.

DaveO, I believe you're trying to set a record. 8 minute turnaround. ;-)

I suspect that it will be of British origin. I got the quote a bit wrong;

It should read

"The wind of heaven blows softly here"

It is carved on the headstone of a young girl in a cemetery in Hull, Yorkshire. Her mother has just died and her relatives want to put the next line of the poem (if it is a poem)on her headstone.

I found several versions of this poem on various "in memoriam" announcements:

May the winds of heaven blow softly and whisper for you to hear
How much I love and miss you and wish that you were here.

May the winds of heaven blow softly and whisper in your ear
How much we love and miss you and wish that you were here.

May the winds of Heaven blow softly
On a quiet and peaceful spot
There is someone who lies there sleeping
Who will never be forgot.

May the winds of heaven blow softly and whisper for you to hear
How much we love & miss you, and wish so much that you were here!

Somewhere beyond the sunset, where the loneliness never dies,
He dwells in a beautiful garden, beneath God's heavenly skies.
May the wind of Heaven blow softly on that sweet and sacred spot,
Where the one we love is sleeping and will never be forgot.

"Somewhere Beyond the Sunset" is known both in the UK and the United States.
I think that it was a poem- I have a vague memory (just tricking me?) that was twigged by this memorial to James Nash: Memorial

Somewhere beyond the sunset where loveliness never dies
She dwells in a land of glory 'mid the blue and gold of the skies
May the winds of heaven blow softly- not sure of any more.

I can't find the poem but I'm sure it's out there. The gospel song "Beyond the Sunset," is not the same.

Thanks for those - I'll pass them on.

I'm not connected with the family but was asked to help in locating the words

Roger

I am looking for the author of this poem.

May the wind in the trees blow a joyful song
May your step be light
May your heart be strong

etc
