David Gordon probably wasn't real well known outside of the Chicago area and Scottish events. He passed away today, June 16, 2004. He was the first one to hire Margaret and I for the Scottish Cultural Society's Scottish fair, back when they had one. He was a good friend with a great sense of humor. My favorite Dave Gordon joke is floating through my head at the moment. Murphey has passed away. His widow calls the paper for the most inexpensive obituary she can find. She is told she can have five words for the most minimal fee. When asked what she wants said she replies, "Say, Murphy's Dead". When told she had three more words she could use, she added, "Car for sale."

I know it old, but it's a classic. Dave didn't want any services. Fare well, David.

Susan, Art, thanks for writing. Dave's best friend, Jack Baker of the Rampant Lion Celtic traders was Dave's best friend. He got to say his good-byes Tuesday. Dave had shrunk down to practically nothing. Jack said his eyes and his hands seemed to be the old Dave's. Dave said as a parting shot, every dog has his day and mine was pretty good. I'm going to try and pry an evening loose and go to Jack's and lift a couple ales in Dave's memory as soon as I can. We had him MC our Bar:none celtic concerts a couple times and he was always a stitch with the audience.
