This message came through on 17th June.

'Dear friends, it is with sadness I have to tell you that Dave Jordan
died peacefully this morning in Christchurch Hospital, of pneumonia.
He had been suffering from Multiple Sclerosis for some years, which as he said, " is no disease for sissies!"'

This is what John Archer has on his NZ folk site www.folksong.org.nz

'Dave was born in Wellington in the mid 1940s. He had a classical piano background. His songwriting started with humorous social commentary for Massey capping reviews (Down Trou, Gutboard Blues, State House Song), then he progressed to writing simple emotive songs (Hills of Coromandel, Out of Sight Out of Mind, Rosalind My Friend), and performing them at the Nickoberg coffee-bar in Palmerston North. Dave's songs were picked up and sung by Pete Seeger, and NZ pop Tv stars. In 1970, Kiwi released "Seasons," an LP of his songs.
From 1970 to 1982 Dave worked in London and Californian pop song factories, mostly helping to record other people's songs, and writing pop songs for others, including Ringo Starr and Demis Roussos. While in London, Dave also produced his own original album Away From Home.

As the pace of life grew more hectic, he returned to New Zealand "before it killed me", but grew increasingly involved producing advertisments in Auckland until 1996 when multiple sclerosis slowed him down.'

One of Dave's most recent songs, Goodnight Ruby, is also on John's NZ folk. Dave was never able to record this but painstakingly keyed the midi into his computer and the tune can be heard there.
