Subject: RE: Tommy Sands in MA., USA From: Peter K (Fionn) Date: 21 Jun 04 - 11:31 AM Tommy has a weekly radio show devoted to Irish traditional/folklore etc, on Downtown Radio (Northern Ireland) which you can catch online at Downtown Radio, Saturday nights, 6-8pm. (Not sure if anyone's covering while he's in the states.) His brother Colum also has a weekly Saturday night slot. Colum is on BBC Radio Ulster, 10pm-midnight. This can be heard live, online, or by using the Beeb's listen-again option, which keeps each program available for one week after going to air. Either way, the starting point for Colum is Radio Ulster. |

Subject: RE: Tommy Sands in MA., USA From: breezy Date: 22 Jun 04 - 03:40 AM After playing our club in St Albans on a Friday evening in early April, he came out to meet me in the street the following morning where he performed for 30 minutes and sang ,along with others song, one he had recently written. It was a very poignant song and I felt priveleged to hear it.It challenges the evil of racism head on. He is such a genuine ,peaceloving individual, unasuming and modest, and now more of his songs are heard in our club thanks to the talents of our residents who will keep Tommy words in our hearts and minds. I wish you all the best for his forthcoming appearance and say 'Hello' from St Albans and thank him again for the night he came . |
