at the Royal British Legion, in the upstairs room, on Verulam Road in St Albans, one of our favoutie singers, Hilary Ward aka 'Guru' will be appearing at the 'Spotlight' folk club.

Hilary was a founder resident of the famous St Albans 'Windward' club that runs on Fridays and it'll be great to welcome her back to perform on Sunday 17th June

doors open 7.30 and starts 8.00 sharp regardless, although Steve Last as MC and resident started at 7.50 last week, and what agood evening it was too.

adm is £3 for everyone + £1 raffle tax

Cheap beer too

comfy chairs, subdued lighting, so watch it there in the back row!

Thanks for blowing my trumpet (as it were Missus)!! Am still offline at home & getting major withdrawal symptoms from the Cat....

Hope to see & hear lots of old friends on Sunday back on home turf. I'll be dashing back from a Festival near Fareham on Sunday afternoon so I'll arrive out of breath but should be back to normal after a pint or two!

Am putting together a set of wonderful songs themed on 'Weaving Water & Whales', and I'm sure you'll be able to guess at some of my favourites. I know there'll be some very classy floorpots too, really looking forward to it. Hope anyone near St Albans can come & join us on Sunday.

Nil Points Breezy - I think you have scored this before!

How about these?:-

The Weavers four daughters, Jenny Greenteeth, The last of the Great whales (I think this is the title)

Looking forward to Sunday - and thanks for your kind words (by text last Sunday), Guru.

Im sure it will be a great night, Hilary has a fantastic voice, if you are in the area, go have a listen, I know you won't be disappointed.
Cheers, Lucy

PS Moses, Jenny Greenteeth? There was a little place where we used to go to play the tree there was covered in moss and overhung a pond we called the place Jenny Greenteeth, Never heard of this song! I wonder if there is a connection....

Hawker,

'Jenny Greenteeth' is one of Nichole Murray's (of 'Cloudstreet').

Written, I believe, in Oz at a songwriting workshop - about a river sprite (not sure if that is the right word as "sprite" conveys a benign spirit, and Jenny is most definitely not that).

Great song and Guru more than does it justice.

Quite correct Moses - Nil points for Breezy!!! (And you could have 3 points so far...)

Wasn't thinking of Thaney or Rain, but will have another look - wouldn't want everyone to get bored listening to all my dreary ballads!!!

Thanks for all kind words gratefully received {{Lucy, Moses, Rhiannon}}

May be off-line now till after the spotlight (PC not fixed), so you can all talk about the song-quiz behind my back (good luck)!!! See you all on Sunday,

Little Kisses,
Hil
