Profile of Dave & Julie Evardson
Folk singers Dave & Julie hail from Cleethorpes on the North Lincolnshire coast, adjacent to the once great fishing port of Grimsby.
'Lincolnshire Family' was written by Dave which is based on a Latvian refugee's view of starting a new life in Lincolnshire in the late 1800s. It won first prize in the 2002 BBC Radio Lincolnshire "Write a Song for Lincolnshire" contest.
The duo have been singing and playing in their own locality for many years, but are now following up invitations to perform further a field
Much of their material is derived from the lives and work of people they have known who earned their living from fishing and its related trades.
Dave's own songs "The Forty Thieves" and "The North Wall" have been taken up and recorded by well-known singers such as Vin Garbutt and Johnny Collins. Loncolnshire singers John Conolly, Bill Whaley and Dave Fletcher also have Dave's songs in their repertoires.
Dave & Julie like to inject humour into their performance, and choose songs with listenable melodies and singable choruses.
They will have with them copies of their CDs "One More Trip", "Crosby Road" and "A Ramble On The Viking Way", containing (like their act) a mixture of original and traditional songs. Dave will also have copies of his songbook, with lyrics and music to 24 of his songs.

D & J are a great couple and perform live all too rarely... so the evening's not to be missed!
I'm sending you a separate PM, Villan....

Karen
I think its time you stopped spanking newborn babies bottoms and concentrated more on getting down to MRFC more often :-)

I could then allow expectant mothers into the club - so to speak

One thought it was bizarre hearing a conversation about oneself on the steam driven radio. Ones ears positively sizzled when immersed in water.

Sooz tells me my ears should have sizzled too Les. I didn't hear your dulcet tones on the steam radio last night, I was busy swearing at the Mother-In-Law's webcam that didn't seem to understand its own raison d'etre.
Johnny :-)

Les - I will be coming! From hearing the name of one of their CDs - "A Ramble On The Viking Way", it sounds right up my street, being interested in archaeology and ancient history and not so ancient history. I also interested in walking, too. Sometime in July or August, I will be doing a Village Tour Walk. I will PM you the details of the walk places.

I am getting into the folk mood now by listening to "Pat to Sarah" from Cara's "Notes in the Stones" CD! Anyone else bought this CD when Cara came to Market Rasen?
