From: running.hare Date: 30 Jul 04 - 02:38 PM ", I have been told personally by Dick that silent generators only are allowed " The 1 outside the beertent wasn't so silent when I turned in at 2am, but strangely enough after a long day & a longer term I slept like a log, despite being only 100 yards away. Possibly had something to do with Cllr's Port! "Well It looks like Lizabee" & now I have a badge to prove it! A great feastival Cheers all. P.S. Never argue with a steel guitar - it wll always come off better! |

Subject: RE: Warwick Festival anyone? From: Linda Kelly Date: 29 Jul 04 - 04:57 PM Latecomer, glad you liked the CD. We don't do gigs due to family commitments, which is the diplomatic way of saying no-one asks us. However, we can nearly always be found at Hull Shanty Festival the weekend of 21st August, and I will try to persuade Hazel to fit in some others if we can. Talking of CD's get Pete Morton's new one Swarthmoor its a classic. By the way, Hazel and I are bemused at your identity, but apologise now if we waylaid you in our drunken state on Saturday! |
Subject: RE: Warwick Festival anyone? From: Fliss Date: 28 Jul 04 - 05:48 PM Warwick was great. Enjoyed meeting lots of friends and putting faces to names. Could sit and listen to Last Nights Fun forever... provided someone else gets Dennys guitar in tune for him... thought I was bad enough at tuning. Missed John Tamms... chatting to friends and not checking from time to time.... aaaggghh. My Irish friend survived her first taste of a folk festival. She thought we were so reserved... until Loose Chippings came on! Loved the carribean food as usual I gravitated back each mealtime. Got to sing in the sat night singalong. Agree some great singers and songs. Loved Mrs Lemons duet. And Ive got my mudcat badge.. when I can remember which t shirt its on. Didnt want to go home... my next big event is the All Ireland Fleadh in Clonmel at the end of August, great craic. Then its Jackfield Festival 1st weekend in Sept. cheers me dears fliss |
Subject: RE: Warwick Festival anyone? From: Tig Date: 28 Jul 04 - 01:27 PM Dug the signing sheet out from under the rest of the badge stuff today. There were 38 who admitted to being there plus a handful I knew about who never signed up. Not bad for a festival! Now where next????? |
Subject: RE: Warwick Festival anyone? From: Les from Hull Date: 28 Jul 04 - 08:57 AM here's their website |
Subject: RE: Warwick Festival anyone? From: Latecomer Date: 27 Jul 04 - 08:21 PM Hi Linda and Pistachio. Had I realised the extent of your talents I would gladly have paid more towards the asking price for the CD. As it is I fear my copy may soon be worn out. How can I get replacements and updates? Do we have to wait til next year or is there another venue to hear your talents. In other news,of course Ustinov was there. Did no one else see or hear him????????? |
Subject: RE: Warwick Festival anyone? From: Pistachio Date: 27 Jul 04 - 04:53 PM Warwick was wonderful - even with the visit to the M1 car park and the visit from the RAC on the way there!! I had a hugely huggable time and met more 'friends I didn't yet know'. Thanks to John Wright and Johnathan in the Warwick arms ( and Zetland) for letting me sing along...to Moses for kind words and the man who sang the Bee Gees 'New York mining disaster'. To the 'School' itself for ALL the accoustic venues , particularly the ladies loo and John Morris! Too much to say, Wow it was simply a very happy weekend. Thanks for your comments Guest kab!. See you next year? Hazel. |

Subject: RE: Warwick Festival anyone? From: Gillie Date: 27 Jul 04 - 07:37 AM Great weekend. I had a really lazy weekend, going as a punter instead of a steward (strange feeling of wanting to steward!!) Batteries have been recharged and am now back at The Watering Hole after a journey starting at10.50 a.m. arriving home at 6.00 p.m. High lights for me were Heckety (ceildh band) Back of the Moon (celtic band), Keith Donnelly (a real giggle), The Doonan Family (wwoh) topped off by the brilliant finale with Loose Chippings. The atmosphere was electric. Many thanks to all my friends, some of whom I had not seen for about 2 years. I enjoyed their comardory and companionship. Special thanks to Beeswax, who supplied me with a tent, kip mat and also kept me topped up with food. Brill. :-) Gillie |
Subject: RE: Warwick Festival anyone? From: MC Fat Date: 27 Jul 04 - 07:04 AM It's hazel from Hull (via Scotland and t'other places) and you're right they should market their talents cos they are both bloody wonderfull |
Subject: RE: Warwick Festival anyone? From: GUEST,kab Date: 27 Jul 04 - 06:47 AM once again Warwick was wonderful and for me too the highest point of many were the marvellous harmonies of Linda and is it Rachel from Hull. well sung get out there and marketyour very talented selves please. |
Subject: RE: Warwick Festival anyone? From: GUEST,Noreen at work Date: 27 Jul 04 - 06:22 AM Wonderful as ever! Warwick is such a friendly festival, I'd recommend it to anybody. Great ceilis, singing, dancing, workshops, swimming, paper planes and bendy balloons. Oh, and the BEER, Geoff! Wish I was still there... |
Subject: RE: Warwick Festival anyone? From: MC Fat Date: 27 Jul 04 - 04:20 AM Was Peter Ustinov there ? Great time nice sesh when I was off duty at Punchbowl and its was Linda kelly and Pistachio doing Caledonia methinks !! |
Subject: RE: Warwick Festival anyone? From: Latecomer Date: 26 Jul 04 - 08:00 PM Good evening one and all. As a late and maybe transient interloper into the world of folk I have to express admiration for a festival that combines Peter Ustinov and MC Fat in one night. Never mind the side shows, get them in the marquee Dick. I am also haunted by the vocal talent of two young ladies and their emotive rendering of Caledonian. Thank you for a memorable and pleasant weekend. |
Subject: RE: Warwick Festival anyone? From: Folkiedave Date: 26 Jul 04 - 07:31 PM I know I speak on behalf of Sheffield City Morris - great weekend. Wipes brow at weather and traffic coming down M1 5 hours from Sheffield was the record!! Best regards, folkiedave www.collectorsfolk.co.uk |
Subject: RE: Warwick Festival anyone? From: Geoff the Duck Date: 26 Jul 04 - 06:32 PM Hey - what about the BEER -you can't leave that out of a list of folk singing... Quack! GtD. |
Subject: RE: Warwick Festival anyone? From: Menolly Date: 26 Jul 04 - 05:54 PM John in the ladies toilets! Well, can't say I am surprised! but I wish I had been there. Great festival, had a festival virgin with me - daughter's boyfriend. He was surprised to find folk music soo political! How many are there out there who have the wrong assumptions abotu folk music and where it comes from! Not just wenching, lusting, plowing and sowing! |
Subject: RE: Warwick Festival anyone? From: Linda Kelly Date: 26 Jul 04 - 05:14 PM absolutely wonderful despite the 11 hour journey down!! Some of the best singing I've heard in a long time-late night Saturday was incredible. Loved performances by Mrs Lemon, Cllr and many others -can't wait to get back. |
Subject: RE: Warwick Festival anyone? From: Mrs.Duck Date: 26 Jul 04 - 05:14 PM Left Warwick at 5.45 this morning and got homeat 5pm but did do a day at school on route! Absolutely brilliant festival - highlights were many but won't forget John Morris leading the singing of Sammys Bar in the ladies toilet!! And of course our Rowan did get the prize for best toe sucking in the last night concert!!!! |

Subject: RE: Warwick Festival anyone? From: Cllr Date: 23 Jul 04 - 05:01 AM Just packing and about to leave Yippee Def:cockofanny Is that the noise made on a campsite when peolple think their tent is more soundproof than is feasibly possible.? |
Subject: RE: Warwick Festival anyone? From: the lemonade lady Date: 22 Jul 04 - 04:29 PM I do hope Schantie arrives by lunch time tomorrow cos I don't think I can put up this master piece on my own and sell lemonade to the thirsty stewards in the heat! I do hope we get some heat. This year I won't be camping near the generators, and if they sneak up when I'm not looking I have a sledge hammer and I'm not affraid to use it!!! Actually, I have been told personally by Dick that silent generators only are allowed and there is a plug-in facility for those who need it. The (spell check please?) cockophany, cockofanny (no I don't think so!) noise should be kept to a minimum this year. 8-) Sal |

Subject: RE: Warwick Festival anyone? From: Tig Date: 20 Jul 04 - 05:53 PM I'm not bothered who has Mudbadges or who doesn't - but anyone being hopeful had better PM me by Thursday morning or they won't have a printed one brought for them. I might have some "blanks" for hand written names though. |
