Apparently PRAYER OF THE NORWEGIAN CHILD is a choral piece written by Richard Kountz and Olaf Trojargson.

I found lots of places on the Internet where the song is mentioned, and lots of places where you can buy the sheet music, but no recordings or lyrics yet.

Can you quote any lyrics other than the title? That might help.

I lay me down, upon the ground and think on my Lord Jesus.
Each flower and tree tells me of thee, and praises thee Lord Jesus.
Lord Jesus think on me.
Make my soul like unto thee.

That's all I remember of it. I learned it when I was in the Shadyside Presbyterian Church junior choir, longer ago than I care to admit.

This page on a genealogy website says that "Lord Jesus, think of me; make my soul like unto Thee" was used as an inscription on an Ohio tombstone dated 1955, for a 6-year-old boy.

PRAYER OF THE NORWEGIAN CHILD
{Richard Kountz and Olaf Trojargson}

VERSE 1: I lay me down upon the ground
And think on my Lord Jesus.
Each flower and tree tells me of thee
And praises thee, Lord Jesus.
Lord Jesus, think on me.
Make my soul like unto thee.
Lord Jesus, think on me.
Make my soul like unto thee.

VERSE 2: I rest my head upon my bed
And think on my Lord Jesus.
Send angels down to kneel around
My bed at night, Lord Jesus.
Lord Jesus, think on me!
Make my soul like unto thee.
Lord Jesus, think on me!
Make my soul like unto thee.

Wow! I remember learning this song while in Youth Choir at my church ... sixty years ago! I never knew the name of it (or quite possibly forgot!) but I remembered enough of the words to do a search and was lucky enough to find it all here. Thank you all for printing out the words to both verses. Now maybe I can teach this song to my grandsons. :)
