Subject: RE: BS: Millard Fillmore MUST BE STOPPED!!! From: GUEST,Dixon Vespra Date: 24 Jul 04 - 12:36 PM I am a member of the board of directors of Toypresidents. That last message purporting to come from Oliver Whistlemore was in fact written by some imposter in order to embarrass the Whistlemores. The assertions it makes about Oliver Whistlemore and Prudence Whistlemore are entirely untrue and constitute slander. We at Toypresidents are well aware that something unusual is occurring in the voting routine on our website. This will in no way influence our decision on when to release an action figure of Millard Fillmore. We have a number of factors to consider regarding which Presidents to release at what time and in what order, and we shall provide news releases from time to time in that regard. Eventually we do intend to produce a figure of every President of the United States of America, but we cannot guarantee in which particular order those figures shall appear. We did receive Blackcatter's request to be hired to do the voice of Millard Fillmore. If I may quote the chairman of the board's response, Blackcatter... "Don't hold your breath waiting." Subject: RE: BS: Millard Fillmore MUST BE STOPPED!!! From: GUEST,Ed Grant Date: 26 Jul 04 - 12:37 PM Well, I finally had to stop in here and see what the hell is going on. This is bizarre. I had no idea people would bother to do something like this on our website. I guess there are some pretty idle minds out there. You people, whoever the hell you are, have managed to get Millard Fillmore in 4rth position. I wonder if that will be enough to satisfy your peculiar appetite for oddball humor? My guess is it won't. I have a feeling you might just keep voting for him until he is number 1 or until we change the voting procedure. As I said, bizarre. I'm sitting here scratching my head and wondering how I should respond to this. Should I get angry? Should I laugh? Should I threaten legal action? I think not. It would be more expedient to just shrug and go have a beer. I've just looked into the records on Millard Fillmore. Hoo boy, pretty exciting stuff! Now I'm pondering what we might have his action figure say when and if we get around to producing it. Maybe... "I'll drink to that...(hic!)" "Pass the gravy, Abigail...(burp!)" "I have just delayed the Civil War for 10 years by passing a brilliant piece of legislation. I should get a (hic!) medal for that don't you think? Abigail....? ABIGAIL!!!" "I am proud to run for the Know Nothing Party in '56. It is a party with a policy that I understand perfectly...(hic!)" "I want to thank the people of the United States of America for electing me...but more than that I want to thank the good people of Mudcat Cafe for making me the most popular President in the history of our great country. God Bless (hic!) America!" What a guy. I think the figure will be our best seller ever. That's my prediction. I guess I should thank you people. Ed Grant, Toypresidents |

You should laugh, then shrug and have a beer, and then you should come on over to the dark side! As a company insider there's a great deal that you could do for the cause. Stress to the other members of the board that if they don't manufacture dolls according to the poll results, the polling process will have been wasted and this will make them look inefficient and market-nonresponsive to the shareholders. And as for what the Fillmore doll could say: well, considering that it's common knowledge that Fillmore was the sexiest president ever, and that he had the first bathtub installed in the White House, what if he said something like "There's room enough for two in (hic!) here, Abigail." Marion |
Subject: RE: BS: Millard Fillmore MUST BE STOPPED!!! From: Blackcatter Date: 29 Jul 04 - 12:48 PM I've shared a tub with an Abigail a couple of times. Millard sure would have missed something if he didn't. |
Subject: RE: BS: Millard Fillmore MUST BE STOPPED!!! From: GUEST,Ed Grant Date: 29 Jul 04 - 12:57 PM Ha! I like it, Marion. I'm not sure if I could persuade the rest of the board, but we'll see. Remember, there is no guarantee how soon a Fillmore action figure will be issued, but hang on to your hopes. If you crazy people succeed in making him number one, I imagine it may at least improve the odds on it happening fairly soon. I never dreamed this job would actually lead to a few good belly laughs. Well, not over Millard Fillmore anyway. The Republicans on staff here are quite perturbed about George W. Bush's very low standing in the polls, by the way. |

Subject: RE: BS: Millard Fillmore MUST BE STOPPED!!! From: Marion Date: 30 Jul 04 - 11:16 PM Hi Ed. You said, The Republicans on staff here are quite perturbed about George W. Bush's very low standing in the polls If I weren't such a nice person, I'd suggest that Bush consider Reagan's example of how to boost ratings quickly... Riffing on Blackcatter's post above... here's another thing we could work on simultaneously with voting for Fillmore. Let's make George W. Bush come in last! Every time you vote, one vote goes to Fillmore and the other two go to the two presidents who are directly below him (right now, James Munroe and Lyndon Johnson). The numbers are pretty close together in the south end of the list, so he would descend quickly (and you'd have to keep checking to see which two were on the list to pass him next). Sounds like a noble cause, eh? The other thing I was thinking: I liked Blackcatter's story in another thread of how he was working in an election office and his friends conspired to embarrass him by writing his name in. How about a write-in campaign for Ed Grant? Marion |
Subject: RE: BS: Millard Fillmore MUST BE STOPPED!!! From: Peace Date: 30 Jul 04 - 11:32 PM I am floating in space, and mere numbers mean little to me. Paltry elections (or poltry elections) that may determine the fate of Millard Fillmore are but momentary passings of 'key it in and send it off' into the ether--of which I've had none lately; mere real elections more of the same. See, I can't write anything sensible either. The joys of just thinking the whole damned world is a beautiful place are so whatever the word, phrase or clause is that I don't know whether to shit, wind my watch or steal third. Excelsior. Even the fact that I used the word shit doesn't phase me. I don't know what's happening to me, but whatever it is, it be cool, bro, evry, very cool. And I am going to leave the typo so that anyone having a bad day will find something to complain about. Because I want the whole planet Earth to smile. And who--in the grand scheme of things--will notice that if one changes the 'l' to an 'n', paltry becomes pantry? Is Elvis alive? If he feels like this, you bet. Does Willard Fillmore deserve to become Toy President's second choice just under George Washington? Why not? So, there you have it folks. Seventh inning stretch. Go, Blue Jays. |

Subject: RE: BS: Millard Fillmore MUST BE STOPPED!!! From: Marion Date: 31 Jul 04 - 12:17 PM Focus, gentlemen! James Monroe has just passed Dubya. There's fifteen more to get by him. Next on the list: Lyndon Johnson and James Madison. Seriously... getting Bush to the bottom of the list is doable (Bush's count can't go up, and nobody's that far behind him), doesn't waste any more time than we're wasting anyway, and has the potential to get more people back on board with this project. Let's face it, there are more Bush-haters than Fillmore-kissers around here. Don't throw away your non-Fillmore votes! Let's get Johnson and Madison past Bush! Sincerely, Marion |
Subject: RE: BS: Millard Fillmore MUST BE STOPPED!!! From: Blackcatter Date: 31 Jul 04 - 12:20 PM I'm working on hat though I'm still voting for Adams over Bush I. But that's only a little more than 20 votes. By the way, I'd keep Hoover pretty low too since he did nothing to help the poor during the Depression and my grandfather was beaten up in "Hooverville" on the Mall when they sent the goons in to destroy the protest. |
Subject: RE: BS: Millard Fillmore MUST BE STOPPED!!! From: Marion Date: 01 Aug 04 - 01:26 AM Thanks Blackcatter. I tossed Adams a handful of votes today as well (though I must admit that the first time I voted for John Quincy Adams by mistake). Certainly we can skip the elevation of Hoover when his name comes up. So I got out the calculator to do a little figuring myself: how many votes would it take to get Bush into the bottom ten? Well, to get the six candidates below him up to 700 points each would take a total of 1291 votes - but only 646 trips to the ballot box, if you give both 2nd and 3rd votes to members of that group. That's very close to how many votes we need to get Fillmore above Reagan. Clearly, this is an idea whose time has come. I notice we've got Nancy Reagan on the run as well now... Fillmore, Mrs. Fillmore, Madison, and Johnson, that's the winning ticket. Marion |

I've got a betting pool going now at the office as to when you people are going to put Fillmore past Reagan. Don't disappoint me! The Republicans on staff will tear their hair out when it happens. I can guaran-dam-tee it. (Anyone seen "Raising Arizona"?) I'd better say no more...wouldn't want to appear partisan! After all, we are a company that honors ALL past Presidents regardless of their party or their personal foibles. I call that unconditional love, folks. By the way, employees of Toypresidents are absolutely forbidden to vote on the site. Nevertheless, I suspect that some of them have cheated from time to time. It's shameful. I would never stoop to such subterfuge. |

Subject: RE: BS: Millard Fillmore MUST BE STOPPED!!! From: Marion Date: 02 Aug 04 - 12:44 AM Hey Ed, we Fillmore-boosters are a nonpartisan group too. I'm not sure if you realize that it isn't just Mudcatters who are in on this: the campaign was actually started at a forum for race car fans, then introduced here by one somewhat schizoid individual who belongs to both forums. Considering that all race car fans are raving right wing nuts, and that all folk musicians are raving left wing nuts (the guy in both groups is a generalized raving nut), it's remarkable that we've joined forces like this and I think Toypresidents should take pride in having created the impetus for this cooperation. SINSULL said: Surely not LBJ? Yeah... I realize that LBJ is no Millard Fillmore. I'm voting for him anyway, not for the sake of promoting him but just for the sake of demoting Bush. Heck, I'm even voting for James Madison, who presided over the only time the Americans attacked my homeland (to date). My theory is that once we get LBJ on top of Bush, the rest will start rolling forward like dominoes... But if you don't want to vote for LBJ, no need to. It is just as productive to vote for others down the list; just maybe not as satisfying, since it'll take longer to see results and you won't see other people's votes being added to yours. If you decide to go that way, I'd suggest voting for two of this group, because they're the ones that have to be promoted to get Bush into the bottom ten: James Madison 78 199 222 499 Chester Arthur 78 171 229 478 Woodrow Wilson 65 212 187 464 Gerald Ford 49 165 233 447 Franklin Pierce 25 203 207 435 Long live the cause, Marion |
