Hi!
It looks like myself and Jonny (Happy Guitar) will be in NZ with some time on our hands soon.
We really, really would love to play at as many clubs as possible. Floorspots, sessions, anything.
So we're looking for anything in Auckland and the surrounding area, but we'll travel.
I'd like an excuse to fly over to Oz too (maybe Cairns where it'll not be quite so wintery?)
but we're open to offers. (We're great friends with Cloudstreet, if that'll help!)

If you'd like to see a bit about us and hear a few extracts our web address is:

smallpiper.co.uk

Hope to see you soon on the other side of the world!

:-))
Vicki

Might be cheaper flying to Brisbane or the Gold Coast from NZ, and the weather here is not too bad at this time of year.

A few sessions around - let me know when you will be around.

You can bring Nicole and John, too.

Take us with you! Please! Teaching small children how to play the guitar is making my brain ooze out of my ears!

(guest - only cos I'm not logged on at this, some one else's address)

Hey NZ & OZ - yon kitchenpiper and Happy Guitar are being WAY too modest! .......Floorspots etc???!!!
They're damn good (professional) musicians doing many a folk club and festival gig in they're own rite throughout the UK (both as a duo AND as two parts of 'Serious Kitchen')....
Please BOOK 'em!
There's no mistakin' the quality!!!! Cheers! HFA

Hi Vicki and Jonny, I'm struck down with jealousy. Have a great trip - and tell Cloudstreet I love their new album cover! - and Don't forget St Kilda's....

To everyone else in OZ/NZ, Hipflask Andy has it spot on. Saw them at Essex Singers recently - Wonderful duo, don't miss them.

G;day Piper(s),

I could use you in my kitchen - but never to worry. You'll find links to NZ Folk clubs Here. Don't ask me what's going on - I wouldn't have a clue....

If you get to the far south of NZ, and see a hairy old fart driving a yellow van.... Thatz Smee...

Cheers - Sam

Sounds like your trip won't be soon, but I'm part of a mini folk reunion in Cairns in first week of August.

Regards, John

Thanks to Noreen's post I'm just listening to Serious kitchen on the MH show as I post. I'm not a folkie (as any mudcat fule kno')but I enjoyed it, though I had to sit through a dreadful dirge "Sister and Brother" first by the studio guest which ...well, I won't rant on, what do I know?!

Hi!
It went well, an open mic. We got big cheers and applause, but that was probably novelty factor! I'm not sure how far south we'll get, probably stick to the North Island, but if someone can tempt us with a club / session I'm sure we won't take much persuasion.

If you're in Hawke's Bay on a Wednesday, come to the Celtic Jam at the Cat & Fiddle in Karamu Road.
It was a very quiet session last night and everyone left around 10:30, even with Ian Gorman there. (Perhaps it was just because Ian was there, and singing, and ****** as a newt!)
I'm sure if you came, the joint would be rocking until late!

Did you play this Monday at Devonport or are you playing next Monday (2nd Aug) - I think this Monday 26th was the AGM....... Difficult to tell with the dates being off when you post from this side of the world. The current folk schedule in Auckland - as you've probably already found out is:
Sunday - 7pm Irish session in The Bog - Parnell
Monday - Devonport Folk Club (best folk club in the Universe!!)
       - Open Mic in the Dogs Bollix
Tuesday - Open session in the Dogs Bollix
Wednesday - 2nd Wednesday in the month - Auckland Bluegrass and
            Country Music Club (Bluegrass )
Thursday - nothing I know of but I may be wrong
Friday - 4th Friday of the month - Titirangi Folk Music Club sing
         around from 8.30
Saturday - 2nd Saturday - Titirangi Folk Music Club - Club night from
          8pm

All details on
Devonport

All NZ clubs

Cheers

F

Also, are you free/still here for the weekend of the 7th/8th August? There is a great little festival going on if you're interested.
