Subject: RE: LucyWrightPaulYungSt AlbnsSunSpotlight From: Rasener Date: 20 Jul 04 - 12:49 PM I think Strollin' should have it done in time for Radio Lincolnshire a week tomorrow. Then you can all see it on the webcam whilst he is singing live. |
Subject: RE: LucyWrightPaulYungSt AlbnsSunSpotlight From: Strollin' Johnny Date: 20 Jul 04 - 12:36 PM Do NOT go there!! (You might fall in......eeeeeuurrgghh!) |
Subject: RE: LucyWrightPaulYungSt AlbnsSunSpotlight From: Sooz Date: 20 Jul 04 - 12:25 PM So long as you are not considering getting yours done SJ. |
Subject: RE: LucyWrightPaulYungSt AlbnsSunSpotlight From: Strollin' Johnny Date: 20 Jul 04 - 12:14 PM I have it on good authority from Mr Sooz that Paul was superb performing solo at Epworth last night. Not only is there a strong possibility that the Angel-Voiced Lucy will soon be challenging our leading singers, but also that Paul will become one of our great guitarists. All he needs now is a pierced belly-button.................aaaaaaaaagh! :0) (LOL) |

Subject: RE: LucyWrightPaulYungSt AlbnsSunSpotlight From: Strollin' Johnny Date: 20 Jul 04 - 08:15 AM The mind boggles! |
Subject: RE: LucyWrightPaulYungSt AlbnsSunSpotlight From: GUEST,Sooz (at work) Date: 20 Jul 04 - 07:51 AM Paul made an appearance solo at Epworth Folk Club last night. St Albans had tired Lucy out! |
Subject: RE: LucyWrightPaulYungSt AlbnsSunSpotlight From: Moses Date: 19 Jul 04 - 09:07 AM Excellent evening - Good range of music and plenty of chorus-type songs. We even had Breezy on his knees in front of Lucy (looking for his thumb-pick he said) - Sunday nights won't be the same till late September. Will look for Lucy and Paul (and Uncle Michael) at Warwick this weekend. |
Subject: RE: LucyWrightPaulYungSt AlbnsSunSpotlight From: Strollin' Johnny Date: 19 Jul 04 - 08:25 AM Glad to hear the Girl & Boy done good, and sorry I wasn't able to be there to support them, and belt a few out myself. Aren't they good - I knew you'd like them. Johnny:0) |
Subject: RE: LucyWrightPaulYungSt AlbnsSunSpotlight From: Rasener Date: 19 Jul 04 - 05:44 AM Singing Referee I tried to get them in at Warwick, but nobody wanted to know. However I do beleive that they are going to do a couple of numbers with their Uncle at Warwick. |
Subject: RE: LucyWrightPaulYungSt AlbnsSunSpotlight From: Singing Referee Date: 19 Jul 04 - 05:32 AM Just like to add my words of accord to all the praise offered to Lucy and Paul here. Loverly stuff! What will I do now on Sunday evenings until September 19th?? I think Uncle Michael said he'd be at Warwick this coming weekend. Any chance of Lucy and Paul putting in an appearance? |
Subject: RE: LucyWrightPaulYungSt AlbnsSunSpotlight From: Ross Date: 19 Jul 04 - 04:17 AM Very good night John - there was a lot of good stuff on display Thanks for all the support since Christmas I've got some way to go Guru - maybe I qualify as a squatter I am thinking of getting my knees pierced |
Subject: RE: LucyWrightPaulYungSt AlbnsSunSpotlight From: George Papavgeris Date: 19 Jul 04 - 03:48 AM Yes, but he couldn't hide the light in his eyes |
Subject: RE: LucyWrightPaulYungSt AlbnsSunSpotlight From: Rasener Date: 19 Jul 04 - 03:44 AM Did Uncle Michael manage to stem the tears of proudness from gushing down his cheeks then? |
Subject: RE: LucyWrightPaulYungSt AlbnsSunSpotlight From: George Papavgeris Date: 19 Jul 04 - 03:20 AM Nah, that was after, Les. I did think you might be wondering how it went by the way, but decided against phoning you at midnight. Good for Gainsborough FC then...but for Market Rasen too for introducing Paul and Lucy to us. And to their Mums and Dads for suggesting an early night almost 20 years ago. And to uncle Michael (he was so proud, I was jealous of HIM, I tell you!) because it sounds like he played no small part in passing on the love of song. We should see about getting them down again, for a longer set or two, while we can still afford them. |
Subject: RE: LucyWrightPaulYungSt AlbnsSunSpotlight From: Rasener Date: 19 Jul 04 - 02:45 AM I went to see Tom and Barbara brown at Grimsby Folk Club last night, who were very good and well worth booking. Very professional and know how to involve the audience. However coming home last night, I kept on wondering how Lucy and Paul had got on. Incidentally, Lucy and Paul are really Gainsborough Folk Club born and bred. They were introduced by Terry Cater, so I think we have a lot to thank him for. You will be able to hear them again on the night you come up, as they are one of the support artists. It sounds more like your performance was influenced by seeing Lucy in the raw, so as to speak :-) |
Subject: RE: LucyWrightPaulYungSt AlbnsSunSpotlight From: Georgiansilver Date: 18 Jul 04 - 06:58 PM El Greko. Thank you for your words of praise for Lucy and Paul. They sum up how we feel about them and yes we are rightly proud of them at Gainsborough. Pleased to have been able to share the experience with you. Be Blessed. |
Subject: RE: LucyWrightPaulYungSt AlbnsSunSpotlight From: George Papavgeris Date: 18 Jul 04 - 06:50 PM Great stuff! Les, you were right, Paul and Lucy are something else. Lucy has a wonderful voice, and her singing style did remind me a little of June Tabor (albeit much higher than June!) - not surprising, as she said that June was her favourite singer too. I was also very impressed with Paul's accomplished but respectful accompaniment, which enhanced the effect of Lucy's voice rather than barge to the front, as often happens. Lucy said she thought we were the most "joining-in" club she knows - what she did not know is that we were in fact holding back, so as not to overshadow her lovely voice! And proud Uncle Michael was excellent too, both with voice and juice-harp (he's got Vanessa wanting to buy one now...). And he's rightly proud for instilling love of song to his niece... ...whose belly button was unadorned on the night. She gamefully showed us at the end of their set, causing a number of the older male hearts to go into fibrillation! Good attendance and good spots too including a couple of new spot appearances. Though I was not happy with mine, I'd left my 12-string near the spotlights after tuning it, and when the time came it was off. I made some hasty adjustments, but it put me off. And my strap decided to unbutton itself as I was completing a smooth transition from the first number to the second... eh, what the hey... But tonight was about Paul and Lucy - and they did themselves (and those who support and cherish them) right proud. Thanks, Market Rasen! |
Subject: RE: LucyWrightPaulYungSt AlbnsSunSpotlight From: My guru always said Date: 17 Jul 04 - 08:13 AM Squirty Ice-Cream on offer????? This might warrant a trip up the Circular Traffic Jam. El Greko's views on Snorbens automatic harmonisation crew - they just can't help themselves, Squirty ice cream would do it for me! V Good to see Ross qualified as a resident Spotlighter! Well worth hearing... |
Subject: RE: LucyWrightPaulYungSt AlbnsSunSpotlight From: Ross Date: 17 Jul 04 - 06:12 AM Does residency entail being issued with a rent book by chance Forecast increased to 85% with precipitation in sight |
Subject: RE: LucyWrightPaulYungSt AlbnsSunSpotlight From: George Papavgeris Date: 17 Jul 04 - 04:51 AM Can I wear my dirty mac, or will it put them off? Georgiansilver, I don't doubt Lucy's singing ability - but the Snorbans club is blessed with compulsive harmonisers and hummers along. And they're also VERY quick at picking up choruses. The only way to shut them up is to give them a melting icecream cone each - then priorities might change. So, no need to put them up, eh? Oh, well, I'll dismantle the chains from the cellar. Just as well I didn't start the furnace up yet. (Shuffles lop-sided along, snorting and dribbling and dragging knuckles on the strangely crimson slippery floor...) |
