Subject: RE: Tune Req: French Girl's Waltz (notation/tab) From: Jim Dixon Date: 19 Jul 04 - 12:51 AM Yes, it's lovely. And how generous of them to put all that music on their website! Obviously they're doing this for the love of the music. I wish them great success. |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: French Girl's Waltz (notation/tab) From: Áine Date: 15 Jul 04 - 09:42 PM Thanks so much, Jim! I've bookmarked the site; and now, I'm trying to work up the courage to email the group to ask when they're going to post the notes. ;-) I've listened to quite a few of their offerings today; and, I have to say, they're fantastic. If you're a mavin of stringed instruments, you have to get these CDs! Here's the URL for the mp3s from Vinyl Tradition Vol. 2. The French Girl's Waltz is file 05.mp3; just in case anyone wants to give it a listen. I just fell in love with this tune; I'd like to hear what you other Mudcatters think about it. All the best, Áine |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: French Girl's Waltz (notation/tab) From: Jim Dixon Date: 15 Jul 04 - 03:56 PM FRENCH GIRL'S WALTZ has been recorded by No Strings Attached on "Dulcimer Dimensions" and "In the Vinyl Tradition, Vol. Two." No Strings Attached has promised to post the musical score here. Also recorded by Nutshell on "Pieces"—but you knew about that, didn't you? |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: French Girl's Waltz (notation/tab) From: Áine Date: 15 Jul 04 - 03:40 PM Nope, that's not it, either. But thanks for trying, Jim! ;-) All the best, Áine |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: French Girl's Waltz (notation/tab) From: Jim Dixon Date: 15 Jul 04 - 03:25 PM That wouldn't be "La Valse pour les Petites Jeunes Filles" would it? Anyway, that one has been recorded many times and would be easy to find, I think. |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: French Girl's Waltz (notation/tab) From: Áine Date: 15 Jul 04 - 12:55 PM Thanks, Sorcha. But, no, it's not the same tune. This tune sounds very stately, at least the way Nutshell plays it. Very 18th century, at least to these ears. All the best, Áine |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: French Girl's Waltz (notation/tab) From: Sorcha Date: 15 Jul 04 - 12:40 PM Aine, could it possibly be this one? World Wide Web ABC Index lists is just as French Waltz. |
Subject: Tune Req: French Girl's Waltz (notation/tab) From: Áine Date: 15 Jul 04 - 12:17 PM I heard this tune (played with The Duke of Kent's Waltz) on a CD by a group called Nutshell. I've searched for the sheet music, and/or abc, tef, tab files on the Net, with no joy. Does anyone know where I can get the notation and/or tab for this piece? It's a lovely tune, and if you heard it, you'd want to play it too! ;-) All the best, Áine |
