Dear Mudcats--

This should probably be a BS thread, but since the topic was part of the Old Songs 2004 thread, I thought I'd post it at the top--it does involve several Mudcats, so I'm hoping no one gets too offended.

We did it! Don's rings are officially in place. Don, thank you again! They're beautiful, and everyone who sees them thinks the story of their genesis is very cool!

Unfortunately, I can't seem to paste the link to Barbara's album into a clicky that works. Maybe Barbara can do it, or maybe we need a Joe Clone (or Joe himself!!!) to make it work for those who want to see the whole affair. I also can't seem to paste the photo of our rings on our fingers.

Jeri, I love "the Foxners!"

Allison, Tim has "the Bug". He can't put the concertina down. He even played it briefly at the wedding party, with my dad on harmonica. He's picked it up amazingly fast.

We're doing just fine, having a spent a whole week at home on vacation doing not much but playing tunes on the porch and hanging out with each other.

So there's the scoop! Here's hoping Barbara can post the link to the album!

Vixen and Reynaud (aka the Foxners!)

Vixen, could you possibly copy the address to Barbara's album and paste it in here. I can clickify stuff, but I can't read minds yet.

Thank you Barbara! The link I was trying to post kept "testing" as a Hotmail "page expired" message, even though the human-readable part of the URL looked like it was pointing to yahoo's photo site.

The pictures are, indeed, terrific!

I found out at the end of the day that the jam session after the ceremony not only had the wedding guests singing, but got the folks in the bar singing along too!

Barbara and Frank were marvelous on vocals, banjo, bass, and guitar!

Another benefit of the internet - virtual weddings and receptions - for when you just can't make the ceremony! *grin*

truly - it is nice to be able to "share" happy moments such as this

THANK YOU BARBARA! It really is good to be able to look at the 'Wedding Album' from far away. It looks like it was a wonderful time, and those rings are SO elegant!

Vixen, I will send you the photo of you guys with the Meixners TODAY! (I'm a lazy-butt.)

The mind-reading comment was supposed to be silly and not snotty, in case anyone was wondering. Please insert a winky-grin in the appropriate place. I just read it, and could see how it might sound snotty.

Dear Jeri,
Rest assured,
No "snottiness" inferred!

I'm looking forward to seeing the Old Songs Photos!

Jeri, I laughed out loud when I saw your snotty comment(;^)

Glad to know others could see the pictures. (Ya never know with Yahoo).

Barbara & Vixen, I'm glad. It's all them thar 'innocent bystanders' who don't know I'm a nut.

Barbara, I'm sorry I missed you at Old Songs. If I hadn't started the festival off with a headache, I might have had more energy, stayed up later and looked for a bluegrass jam. (I WOULD have hidden in the background and watched hands.) As it was, neither the fiddle nor the guitar saw the light of day while I was there.

Jeri, you might have found me at an old-time jam or a folkie song circle or an early country jam (not much bluegrass at Old Songs) HAD I BEEN THERE! You didn't miss me. I missed Old Songs because we were on a cross-country trip in our camper, and on that particular weekend Frank and I were sitting in a backyard in Pasadena, CA with guitar and banjo doing animal songs for our two grandchildren. In fact, I RSVP'd to this wedding from the road somewhere, and we got back just in time to show up!

That necktie was a gift from Vixen to Reynaud, and the flowers were all done by her mother. Including the flowers embroidered on her white vest.

Aw shucks...I wasn't going to admit to the tie. ;>
I was utterly delighted, however, when he told me that's the one he was going to wear!

My mother is a woman of many and diverse talents--she made and embroidered the vest for her own wedding to my stepfather, twenty years ago. We spent the day before the wedding picking wildflowers for her to make the centerpieces in the morning, and she spent the afternoon making corsages, boutoniers (?sp), and the bouquets for Annie and me. She is one utterly amazing woman. (of course, I'm wholly unbiased in making that judgment!)

Couldn't happen to two nicer people.

And clearly still infatuated with each other--why else would i have met them playing tunes together when the whole Getaway crowd was there to choose from...

Best wishes always
Bill

I remember when we first met. I think it was at the last Getaway that was held at Prince William. That was my first one, and I remember "VicTim" doing a song and how animated you two were. Great memories, and a great couple. I am so happy for you both, and offer you a wish for all the best in your continuing journey together. May the worst day of the rest of your life be no worse than your best day so far.

Mick
