Subject: Lyr Req: From The Vine Came The Grapes From: Rabbi-Sol Date: 20 Jul 04 - 08:21 PM This song was popular in the early 1950s. It starts off "From the vine came the grapes, from the grapes came the wine". There is another line further on in the song that says " He is back with Marie on the Isle of Capri, with a million stars shining above her". That is all I remember of it. SOL ZELLER |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: From The Vine Came The Grapes From: Midchuck Date: 20 Jul 04 - 09:17 PM From the vine came the grape, From the grape came the wine, From the wine came a dream to a lover. He was back with Marie On the isle of Capri, With a million stars shining above her. Once again they romanced, As they kissed and they danced, And he even heard wedding bells chime. From the vine came the grape, From the grape came the wine, And to Tony a wonderful time. There may have been more. That's what I can remember from the old "Your Hit Parade" that I had to fight with my parents to get them to let me stay up to see. Peter. |

Subject: ADD: From The Vine Came The Grape From: Joe Offer Date: 20 Jul 04 - 11:35 PM Boy, Midchuck has a great memory. He missed only a couple of words, and the bridge. Now, if you want the Italian, you'll have to ask Ferrara or somebody like that. -Joe Offer- From The Vine Came The Grape (Paul Cunningham/Leonard Whitcup) [transcribed by ear from the Best of the Gaylords] From the vine came the grape, From the grape came the wine, From the wine came a dream to a lover. He was back with Marie On the isle of Capri, With a million stars shining above her. Once again he romanced, As they kissed and they danced, And he even heard wedding bells chime. From the vine came the grape, From the grape came the wine, And for Tony a wonderful time. With a song in his heart, He would sip another glass of wine. With each sip, he would cry, "My Bella Maria, you're mine." [Italian version] From the vine came the grape, From the grape came the wine, From the wine came a dream to a lover. He was back with Marie On the isle of Capri, With a million stars shining above her. Once again he romanced, As they kissed and they danced, And he even heard wedding bells chime. From the vine came the grape, From the grape came the wine, And for Tony a wonderful time. For Tony a wonderful time. also recorded by the Hilltoppers and the Capris I souldn't have worked so hard. Here's an alternate transcription, with Italian:
