Subject: RE: Big Session In Barton [Lincs UK]? From: Bloke in the Corner Date: 20 Oct 04 - 03:57 PM Ted, this hundredth post lark is not good for your soul. You're a mature, intelligent member of the human race, I don't like to see you scrabbling round in this unseemly fashion. Besides, I missed it completely.... Coming over on Toozday? |
Subject: RE: Big Session In Barton [Lincs UK]? From: Cod Fiddler Date: 25 Oct 04 - 05:32 AM ITS TOMORROW! |
Subject: RE: Big Session In Barton [Lincs UK]? From: GUEST,KJ Date: 25 Oct 04 - 06:23 AM Yipeee, so who's coming them, metaphorically speaking that is! |
Subject: RE: Big Session In Barton [Lincs UK]? From: GUEST,KJ Date: 25 Oct 04 - 09:57 AM Shall we make that 'who's coming then', pre-senile dementia setting in! |
Subject: RE: Big Session In Barton [Lincs UK]? From: Bloke in the Corner Date: 25 Oct 04 - 03:21 PM Well, you wouldn't expect me to miss another like last time, now would you? It seems about three of the Hull youngsters are coming, so their music will be another plus point. Just think, some folks hardly ever experience live music of the quality we'll be having tomorrow night, and fewer still will ever have been part of it. Gives you a warm feeling deep in the cockles of your heart... or should that be whelks? |
Subject: RE: Big Session In Barton [Lincs UK]? From: Strollin' Johnny Date: 25 Oct 04 - 03:28 PM Sorry, can't make it - rehearsing with a band of geriatric Rock 'n' Rollers re-formed for a one-off charity gig. Older but no wiser! :0) Ah well, better get me drape and brothel-creepers dusted off. SJ :0) |
Subject: RE: Big Session In Barton [Lincs UK]? From: Rasener Date: 25 Oct 04 - 04:05 PM Have you got your "Ducks Arse" wig to go with the outfit John LOL :-) |
Subject: RE: Big Session In Barton [Lincs UK]? From: Rasener Date: 27 Oct 04 - 01:44 AM Many thanks to those that bought the Yellowbellies Cd at Barrow on Humber tonight. Nice set up there. I was very impressed to see the youingsters playing away there. Good on yer Barrow:-) Sorry I had to leave a bit early, but I have a new job and need to be alert tommorrow. Job must come first. |
Subject: RE: Big Session In Barton [Lincs UK]? From: Bloke in the Corner Date: 27 Oct 04 - 03:07 PM Great time, great playing, great young musicians, and the music we love to play being passed on to the next generation. Not to mention you old buggers did really well!! I'm looking forward to the next one already. Now, how about the Tuesday before Christmas as the next one? That's 21 December or thereabouts. I'll obviously post a bit nearer the time, but that will give us plenty of time to wind up for it. Of course, you're all welcome at every Tuesday session at the Six Bells, except next Tuesday, when we're all going to see his holiness Lord Philip of Cunningham and Sir Aly of Bain in Brigg... |
Subject: RE: Big Session In Barton [Lincs UK]? From: Willa Date: 28 Oct 04 - 09:32 AM Thanks for the warm welcome, and particularly to Jo for the food. It was so good to see the girls treated as the serious musicians that they are. How about 6-year old Lydia making her debut! Keep an eye (ear) open for those Wainwright girls and their friends and hope they do carry on the tradition.I'll keep their mum Liz informed about the possibility of a visit in December. |
Subject: RE: Big Session In Barton [Lincs UK]? From: Thumper Date: 28 Oct 04 - 10:58 AM Yes, it was an excellent night. And looking forward to seeing aly Bain. |
Subject: RE: Big Session In Barton [Lincs UK]? From: Cod Fiddler Date: 29 Oct 04 - 07:41 AM I had a very good time and look forward to my next visit. I'll see you all at Ali B and Phil C. By the way did any of you find a fiddle mute, which I think I left on a table. It is a ten-pronged affair made of black rubber with the words "ULTRA USA" on it. I think that Oaklet and El Ted get their ten-pronged black rubber affairs at Gwenap but they are a bit different in design and less efficient for silencing an accompanying fiddle that isn't sure what note is coming next. If any of you have it, could you bring it to Ali B? Best wishes, Richard. |
Subject: RE: Big Session In Barton [Lincs UK]? From: Skipjack K8 Date: 29 Oct 04 - 08:04 AM Hmm, there was someone hard of speaking making surprising little noise about being eaten by a dangerous dog after you left, but I don't think that person belonged to you Richard. Sorry not to be able to help any further. |
Subject: RE: Big Session In Barton [Lincs UK]? From: Oaklet Date: 29 Oct 04 - 08:06 AM Watching Fluffy the landlady's rottweiller passing the ten-pronged rubber mute on Thursday afternoon was particularly distressing for all concerned. It is now a malodourous three-pronged number. Sorry Rich. |
Subject: RE: Big Session In Barton [Lincs UK]? From: GUEST,Geoff Date: 31 Oct 04 - 03:50 PM Hi,Oaklet,Bloke&co-Is there no session at all on Tues? Are there any other join in ones in the Lincs/Notts area on Mon or Tues? Thanks Geoff. |
Subject: RE: Big Session In Barton [Lincs UK]? From: Bloke in the Corner Date: 01 Nov 04 - 03:46 PM Normally there is a session every Tuesday, Geoff, and very welcome you would be to come. The only thing is, this Tuesday (2nd November) the regulars are mostly going to see Aly Bain and Phil Cunningham in Brigg, so probably there won't be anyone there. But do come to the regular Tuesday session, we have all sorts - oakie, skippies, ploughflyies, blokies...all sorts. |
