I'd love to come along if i'm around. Off down to Sidmouth for the next week but up for it after that. I've been a couple of times before and it was an excellent session. Keep us informed.

Is it smoke free?

Or do we need to bring our smog masks?

I'll probably come and act as a native tracker, translator and Punkah-Wallah for Georgiansilver and Travelling Audience. I'll barter with the guards at the Lincs/Humberside border to let us in.

BLOODY BARTON??? Is it still there? I thought the luftwaffe saw it off sixty years ago!

Next Tuesday? I'm up for it. I will travel over in my beautiful Fiat Scud. I can slot a few hullites in the back if you fancy it?

This bit should be in green

Yes, Mr Silver, next Tuesday from around 8.30 pm.
The Six Bells is in Barrow upon Humber. Look on the map for Barton Upon Humber (on the south end of the Humber Bridge) and Barrow is off to the east, about three miles. If coming from Brigg towards Barton the village is signposted at the A15 junction - don't worry, you'll see it when you get there.
Go into the village centre, you'll see the Royal Oak pub on your left, turn right there and the Six Bells is 10 (ten) yards along, on a corner. You can't get very lost, it really is a small place.
You will, of course, be most welcome as will all travelling folkies every Tuesday night.
We are proud that our session is anarchic, no-one leads it, tunes and songs equally allowed - and you might well get to hear Karen & Colin Thompson, Dave Oakley etc- playing for FREE!! My God, what an offer!
See you there

Assuming you mean Tuesday 3rd...could you give details of venue/time etc as will consider coming to watch! and meet a few more Catters. Travelling Audience may also be interested. Be Blessed.

That Humber be full of Karen and Colin Thompson's welks, that gave me food poisoning when they bought them to Market Rasen Folk Club :-)

i think the river is full of crap and chemicals as well, [could damage instruments].

I just realised that swimming across the river is a silly idea, as peoples instruments will get wet and go all soggy, and might not sound good.

Another idea, is all meet up at the Humber Bridge, and swim across the river, to save bridge money, [bridge tax is a big rip off].

take your swimming costumes.

As a south banker, I can assure you all of a hearty welcome in the Six Bells, with me, Skippy, the Ayatollah etc. perhaps even persuading Oakley (Let's talk about something else - now, what do you think of me???) to get his fiddle out and fiddle about with it. Though that might frighten the landlady's doberman.

That sound like a good idea. Can we avoid the Tuesday of Whitby Folk Week though? And if we get enough people interested from this side, we could get a mini-bus taxi to cut down bridge fees and allow everyone to drink.

Hello, I spoke to El Ted last week , and he had the idea of loads of Hull people going to The Barton Tuesday session,
Loads of Barton people been to Hull, like Oaklet and Skipjack, they both went to The Adelphi.
And Karen n Colin Tomson , and bloke in the corner, and oaklet and skipjack all been to Hull Folk Club, so we thought its about time a few of us went to there session.
I talked to Skipjack about this a few days ago, and he reckons its a good idea.

it will be a tuesday, [not sure which one], in the next few weeks.

If enough people are intrested we could hire a minibus, so everybody could drink, [all put money to it, it should not be more than a few quid each].

Plenty of taxi places etc do mini bus hires, if anyone knows a good one write it here,
and if anyone knows the best date to go, write it here.

john
