Subject: Three Stags, Wardlow Mires,Derbyshire? From: Mr Happy Date: 28 Jul 04 - 07:59 PM We heard there's sometimes a sesh at the Three Stags in Wardlow Mires in the Peak District on Sat nights. Anyone know if the sesshes are still running & possibly contact name, phone etc? |

Subject: RE: Three Stags, Wardlow Mires,Derbyshire? From: Strollin' Johnny Date: 29 Jul 04 - 08:14 AM Hey MCF, maybe we should meet up there one Saturday and revive the days of the Rumbles? I can still manage mean versions of Sam & Dave's 'Hold On I'm Coming' and 'Soul Man'. ROTFL! |

Subject: RE: Three Stags, Wardlow Mires,Derbyshire? From: GUEST,Jon Date: 29 Jul 04 - 09:26 AM Mr Happy, this thread is a duplicate you also started this one. If you tried the event listing I tried to put together here at folkinfo you would find that under Derbyshire you will find this site from there you will find that there is a listing for a session of music and songs every Saturday at this pub and that the contact number, presumably for the pub, is (01298) 872268 Jon |

Subject: RE: Three Stags, Wardlow Mires,Derbyshire? From: Mr Happy Date: 02 Aug 04 - 05:25 PM Sorry, I placed same message on another linked thread, but thought should place feedback of our exploits on here. Just returned from superb w/end's folking about+ camping at only £1.50 per night at 3 Stags Heads Inn,Wardlow Mires, Derbyshire. This event is on every Sat nite but seems pretty well pot luck who turns up. We went down as group of 3 & another of our chums arrived as well plus another couple from Saddleworth, so the Sat afternoon outdoor sesh was brill, then the evening in the pub sesh with 4 very strong real ales including the most appropriately titled 'Lurcher'- a black rich & fruity beer at 8%!! + several local singers & musicians. Camped in farmers field next door to pub- basic facilities toilet, washbasin, water tap- but all very clean. After packing up on Sun morning, we were tempted back for more 'Lurchers' & songs in the pub in the afternoon. A most pleasant experience & we'll certainly go again sometime soon. |

Subject: RE: Three Stags, Wardlow Mires,Derbyshire? From: el_punkoid_nouveau Date: 30 Sep 04 - 03:49 PM Not sure if we can make it this w/end, due to big work commitments. We may see you there on Saturday - it will be a pleasure to meet you again, after your visit to Donisthorpe! Unfortunately, our little bash no longer runs (due to circs beyond our control!). We are considering future possibilities... |

Subject: RE: Three Stags, Wardlow Mires,Derbyshire? From: GUEST,Mr Happy Date: 22 Feb 05 - 07:06 PM well we've been & gone & done it again! Another tremendous folking w/end at 3 Stags. 1st camping venture of 2005. Weather forecast fibbed again*they said snow, frost etc- wrong again! Arrived campsite 5ish last Fri evening.Put up my little tent in 10 mins, then helped others do theirs. howlin' gale started-REALLY CCOLD! Butto cut long story short, big top erected & battened down for night temporarily til morning so could see wot doing + hoped milder weather. All frozen so nipped to transport cafe across road. Thawed out-had scalding hot chips, pie, mushy peeas, + big mug swet strong tea- lovely! Then onto Pub sesh- free rounds o' beeer from landlord Geoff + great sesh with Mick from Oldham, mystery guest guitar siner from Derby+ sprinkling enthusiastic locals. Had 'hot toddy' from Mrs Geoff + 'Absolution'[6%] + 'Lurcher'[8%] Good time had by all! Retired around 2am ish. Similar Sat lunch+pm + evening with mystery guests from Warwick, duo+guitar+ mando-cello + m/catter Emma B + fiends. Sat all brill+ Sun in same vein. This venue's a real winner & we'll be off there again in near future. Camping's only 1.50/nite & all beers real ales. Plenty 'Absolution' I was absolved of all sins & now consider myself to have been saved!! Will announce when there's another gettogether, then maybe some more o' u catters can come for sessh! |
