Poor Harpy (who I always confused with the bearded man »Abby Sale«) lived a difficult life, on-line.

May she now rest...."Requiescat in pace."

Sincerely,
Gargoyle

Fascinating! Pixies everywhere! *LOL*

Two years ago I reported that this site had an apparent typo in the name of the composer of the refrain.

Since then they have corrected it. I wonder if someone from timeless truths.org is a member here :-)

NightWing

According to several sites, Happy Sunny Side of Life is by Bill Bolick of the Blue Sky Boys. They certainly recorded it it 1936. However, this site gives it a date of 1918 and attributes it to J. Wesley Watts, refrain by Tillet S. Teddlie, according to The Gospel Trumpet Company, Reformation Glory, 1923 (12).

Hoping that the book would be available online, I Googled

          "reformation glory" songbook

Although the book itself does not seem to be available online, one of the search entries was the following:

Classic Country: Legends of Country Music
          books.google.com/books?isbn=0415928273
          Charles K. Wolfe - 2001 - ‎Biography & Autobiography
"Sunny Side of Life," recalls Bill, was taken from a songbook called The Reformation Glory, which was a hymnbook used by the First Church of God. "I heard it ...

Classic Country isn't available online without buying it. Nonetheless, it does support the first site's attribution for the song's origins.

I cannot find any information about the first author, but the second appears to be a typo and in fact be this man: Tillit S. Teddlie.

I'm with you, Jerry. It's one of my favorite songs. Norman and Nancy Blake also have a great version of it.

I like this tune and couldn't find it in the DT

The Happy Sunny Side Of Life

There's a sunny side where no ills betide
There's a road that we must go
There is pleasant vales verdant hills and dales
Where sweet flowers ever grow

Oh the happy (happy) sunny (sunny) pretty rolling dales
Where the sweetest gladness ever there prevails
(sweetest joy and gladness ever there prevails)
Where the sunshine lingers on the hill
(sunshine ever lingers on the grand majestic hills)
On the sunny side of life
(on the happy sunny side of life)

There's shady dells where no gladness dwells
And the clouds obstruct the view
But a brighter way like the light of day
Is awaiting now for you

Let us sing a song as we go along
Let us banish care and strife
That the world might know as we onward go
There's a sunny side of life
