OK Catter's here's a live one.

COOPER"S PYTHON HAS CLOSE CALL
Canadian Press August 7, 2004

HADDAM, Conn. -- Alice the albino python had a little too much to eat for dinner.

Just hours before its owner, rocker Alice Cooper, was to take the stage at a theatre in Wallingford last weekend, the 2.4-metre-long [8-foot-long]snake ate a live rat and then swallowed a heating pad, wires and all, that had been left in its cage by mistake.

Before Saturday night's show, Cooper's roadies saw the snake's unusually large bulge and called at-risk snake helper Alison Sloan, who directed Alice to Higganum veterinarian Richard Jacobs.

"It was absolutely an emergency," Sloan told The Hartford Courant on Thursday, noting the wires could have ruptured Alice's intestines or other organs with fatal results.

After sedating the python, Jacobs said he made an incision along a row of scales and manoeuvred the heating pad out.

"That's an outrageous X-ray," Jacobs said Thursday, looking at the pre-op picture that showed the wires and contacts from the heating pad - plus a rodent. "It's probably the most astonishing X-ray I've taken in my career."

Sloan, director and owner of Ashleigh's Rain Forest in Essex, allowed Cooper to borrow a yellow anaconda for Saturday's show to replace the python, which undulates onstage with Cooper during his performances.

Alice the snake was resting comfortably at Jacobs' office Thursday.

Cooper was unavailable for comment.

Well...as for being unavailable for comment, what could he have said, really? "Glad my snake will be ok?" "Snakes shouldn't eat heating pads...."?    "Sloan gives good anaconda...".??

lol!

You suppose the snake was just trying to get warm?
If the pad was plugged in it would be an electrifying experience.
Could they use a snake to get the pad out?
Did he squeeze it first?

Blessings,
Barbara

The snake he came from Arkansas
From the hot and sunny south;
The first clue they had that something was wrong
Was the plug hangin' outa his mouth.

Well, he loved his rats and shoved 'em down
But that pad was something better
With his insides clad in heating pad
He didn't need Cooper for a sweater.

Anyone?
Blessings,
Barbara

heating pads are sometimes dangerous for snakes. My friend has a royal python and when it ws young it burnt its underneath quite badly that it needed the vet and constant care for several weeks, you can still see the scar tissue 4 years later.

Sigh!

"Elementary, my dear Alice," said Dr. Jacobs.

Cheerily,

That's "alimentary" Charlie! **Grin**

It sems something along the lines of the famous cake song would do nicely listing all the odd ingrediants that go into Mrs. ____'s cake.

Ah, Brett, you beat me to it. A straight line if I ever saw one. Alimentary, indeed.
And in this case, it would be the odd ingredients that go into Alice Cooper's snake.
Blessings
Barbara
