The Haddenham ceilidhs won't be starting again till October, but it's probably worth giving John Heydon's office in Aylesbury a ring, 01296 485 995, because they'll have Mick's number and possibly other info about local sessions.

I don't think there are any sessions in Aylesbury at the moment, Mick used to have a couple but I think they folded some time ago. Mick himself is Ok at the moment (well I spoke to him last week) but they have decided they can't operate on the liver as they can't get it all out. So it's back to the chemo. Not terribly good news but he says he's feeling Ok currently.

There is an English (morris ish) session on the first Sunday of each month at the Red Lion in Coleshill, between Amersham and Beaconsfield, people come from up Aylesbury way. Nice pub, friendly landlord, good beer. What used to be Wycombe Folk Club now meets in O'Reilly's in Marlow Bottom on a Wednesday night but that's a bit of a trek from Aylesbury. I'm thinking of starting up an Irish session but that is probably going to be in the Red Lion too.

The nearest one of these to Aylesbury is probably the Slapton session on the last Thursday of the month, off the B road between Leighton Buzzard(where I live)and Ivinghoe. There is also the one at Heath & Reach on the 2nd Sunday evening of the month which may not be too far for you.
There is also another small one, not listed, held at the Five Elms, Weedon, - just North of Aylesbury - on the 3rd Monday of the month. Mick Brooks often goes. However last month this was affected by the Performers Rights Society 'police' which I moaned about in another thread at the time.
Look forward to seeing you at some of these sessions - and ducks are welcome as well if they can quack in tune !

Not a lot of help though as I have a friend who lives within walking distance of Aylesbury town centre

I was hoping to combine seeing my friend more often with the combination of being able to walk home drunk and to stop over the night

I play guitar and sing a bit, mostly my own songs (as generally I find it easier to rememeber the words)

Many best wishes to MICK - I've never met him, but I sincerely hope he gets well - the world can be very unkind at times
