Subject: RE: tune para handy From: GUEST,MC Fat Date: 09 Aug 04 - 10:07 AM When they (the BBC) reprised the series with Gregor Fisher (Rab C) there was a smart new theme tune I think written by Phil Cunningham. I remember going past a sesh at Sidmouth about 10 years ago and hearing it blast out. It was a really good tune but oest seem to have been recorded. |
Subject: RE: tune para handy From: Jim McLean Date: 09 Aug 04 - 11:04 AM The Maggie was a different film about a puffer, starring Paul Douglas(?). I can hear the tune played in the Para Handy series but will have to think about it!! |
Subject: RE: tune para handy From: GUEST,MC Fat Date: 09 Aug 04 - 11:07 AM Not being a tune person but a guitarist I can still remember what a stoater of a tune it was but it didn't seem to appear on any recordings or videos |
Subject: RE: tune para handy From: Steve Parkes Date: 09 Aug 04 - 11:41 AM The original B&W series? I've seen it referred to as The Para Handy Polka. Steve |
Subject: RE: tune para handy From: IanC Date: 09 Aug 04 - 11:51 AM Phil Cunningham's tune was called "Manus Lunny's Plower Pot", but Jimmy Shand had a tune called "Para Handy", written by Ian Gourlay (released in 1960 with "The 6:20 Two Step" on side B ... possibly written for the BBC series "Para Handy - Master Mariner" shown about 1959/60). The latter seems quite likely to be what was asked for in the first place. :-) |
