Hi There mudcatters! I've visited your excellent site severel times but never posted a thread till now, so here goes!

I am looking for a parody on the old bog road that was sung by a dearly loved old man in my hometown here in Longford Rep Of Irl, up till last year when, alas, he passed on.

I have since been asked to sing it in his memory, but never, in all the years that i knew him did i ask for the words, And i can only remeber snatches, starting.....

My feet are tired and weary, this blessed harvest morn,
But though the ache i do not feel,
since the price went up for corn...

(goes on a few verses, mentioning the purchase of a Ginnet, till eventually time passes and.........)

...I think I'll sell the aul Ginnet,
He's not good for much no more,
I'll buy a nice wee tractor,
A Massey Fergeson or a ford,
..............................
..............................
And I'll Wheel my Prembulator down
THE OLD BOG ROAD.

Any help would be much appreciated, to keep the tradition alive in the memory of our dear friend alias Cha O'Beirne

jUmPiNg JoHn !

I can't help with the words, though I've a feeling I heard it sung. But I'll push it up the page again and hope someone comes up with the song.

So far as I can see the original isn't in the DT, though I'm pretty sure we've had at least one thread about it. (The supersearch timed out on me). Anyway, here is a link to it.

I've never heard it - despite living in the (Irish) midlands for many years! I'll make a few enquiries.

Regards
