Subject: Lyr Req: Can't-win-for-losin' song From: Tannywheeler Date: 15 Aug 04 - 10:13 PM Several years ago (3? 5?) on our loca NPR station (KUT-fm)'s Saturday program "Folkways" I heard a recording of a male singer doing a song about trying to avoid disaster and not succeeding. After a major earthquake in Calif., he moves to Oklahoma or Nebraska. The place is hit by a huge tornado. He moves to one of the Carolinas and winds up in the middle of a Force 5 hurricane. This is a tongue-in-cheek song, not tragic. A bit like "Why Paddy's Not At Work Today". Is this enough for identification? The recording was only used 3 or 4 times in about 6 weeks and never heard (at least, here in Austin) again. Can someone help me identify song and singer, and get words? Pretty Please? Tw |
