Stones drummer fighting cancer

The Guardian

Charlie Watts, the drummer in the Rolling Stones, is being treated for
throat cancer, it was revealed yesterday.
The 63-year-old musician is undergoing radiotherapy at the Royal Marsden
hospital near his home in Chelsea, west London.

Watts, whose records with the Stones have sold millions all over the world,
was diagnosed with the disease in after going into hospital in June.

I've always felt he was the rock among the Stones, and I wish him well.

He was always my favourite Stone, from day one. Seems like the most level headed of the lot as well. Hope things go well for him.

he used to be the drummer for the HarriWatts Band.

So FC, when did he quit, or were you being sarcastic? There are lots of pictures of him indulging.

My favourite Stones record is Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out! with him on the cover, in fact the picture is hanging in my music room.

He hasn't smoked or drank for a few years now.

Okay, so the news reports say he hasn't smoked for years, but who's to say that it didn't contribute given second hand factors and passive smoking, and cancer's notorious latency period? Nonetheless, there are lots of environmental causes and bad luck.

I hope he beats it.

fiddle-4, I was the same, I used to have all the stones albums before traditional music bacame my addiction.

Acording to the BBC news last night, an official spokesman for the band said that a full recovery is expected.

One of my favorite drummers... I always have loved people who were just great time-keepers on their instruments, not necessarily the flashiest or most technical. His is the style that I think of when I think of straight-up r-n-b or rock drumming. Two and four, and a cymbal every eight or so.
