Here is a song I wrote recently. It's on my website http://paulspencer.org, which I once again shamelessly put in front of you.

I Disapproved of the Violence

words and music by Paul Spencer 2004

[SPOKEN] Two trucks full of explosives rammed the British consulate in Turkey.
I remember, it was November 2003.
I disapproved of the violence.

1. So fucking what! if you disapproved of the violence?
These people are watching their neighbours and families die,
They've screamed and they've marched and they've sat there in terrified silence,
And now they explode can't you fucking well understand why?

2. But dying and killing can't lead to a peacful solution,
War creates war and the people grow hardened and blind,
I can't support this kind of act it's the wrong revolution,
Dying won't bring what the people are dying to find.

3. It's not a campaign with signatures on a petition,
They're fucking oppressed and they've struggled against it for years,
Then you sit and watch on your satellite link television,
And complain that the rebels don't have your romantic ideas.

4. It's not about theory it's history people keep learning,
Milit'ry victories don't make us happy and free,
Generals send soldiers to fight and the tables keep turning,
But the winners don't bring us the changes we're waiting to see.

5. Suicide isn't an ideological movement,
It's starts with defeat at its most fucking crushing and sour,
Despair is then harvested just like an army recruitment,
And death helps their leaders to climb up the ladders of power.

Our mission is already huge when the war-cry is silent,
Curing the ills of the world and a little bit more,
So whether you're here or in Palestine, Turkey or Ireland,
It's bloody hard work for a pacifist during a war.

I think that's most fucking F-words I've seen in a pacifist song.

PS But the thread title is a useful one, and in the aftermath of the announcement of Osama bin Laden's death and the reactions thereto, it seems to me it might be worth expanding this thread to cover songs about terrorism (and terrorists) and our responses to them in a broader vein, not just a single text.

Incidentally, my browser can't find paulspencer.org. Any idea if the contents are extant elsewhere?

This is a hymn (to the tune of "Eternal Father, strong to save", aka "The Navy Hymn") occasioned by the report of the celebratory reactions to the announcement of the death of Osama bin Laden: We Cannot Gloat by Andrew Pratt.
