Subject: RE: Mandolin Tutor? From: GUEST,ct lincoln Date: 03 Sep 04 - 08:51 AM Greetings all. Alex - let's keep in touch and see how we get on! Good luck to you too... Nutty - love the mandolintutor link, thanks. Looks like a good intro to gove me enough confidence (eventually!) to take the machine along to a club and twiddle along (ref. Bernard). Thanks all CT |
Subject: RE: Mandolin Tutor? From: nutty Date: 02 Sep 04 - 09:27 AM I thought I had posted this two days ago but it seems to have floated off into the ether. While a session nearby is the ultimate solution, for those stuck at home how about trying this online tutorial. Mandolin Tutorial |
Subject: RE: Mandolin Tutor? From: Alex.S Date: 31 Aug 04 - 09:03 PM Lincoln, I too am a novice mandolinist (as well as a novice banjoist, fiddler, auto-harpist...) and I probably had all the same difficulties last year when I first tried that you will have in the near future. If you need to comiserate, I'm your man. |

Subject: RE: Mandolin Tutor? From: GUEST Date: 31 Aug 04 - 10:20 AM Good tip, thanks. Interested to know machine heads would make this much difference! Worth remembering, thanks again. CT |
Subject: RE: Mandolin Tutor? From: Bernard Date: 31 Aug 04 - 10:18 AM Your best bet is to find a music session near to you... there will be someone there who can, at least, point you in the right direction, and you can quietly twiddle in the background whilst they are playing tunes you know... that's the quickest way to learn! Good luck! My 'spare' mandolin is an Ozark, but these days I tend to use it more than my 'main' one! I changed the machine heads to Grovers, and it's so much easier to keep in tune now! |
Subject: Mandolin Tutor? From: GUEST,CT Lincoln Date: 31 Aug 04 - 08:57 AM Greetings all - After testing the water and receiving valuable advice from many of you, I now have an Ozark mandolin - but need to learn to play it. Please - any suggestions about the best published tutor, OR anyone in the Lincoln, UK, area who could take on a complete novice for an appropriate fee? Thanks CT |
