Subject: Event Calendars - Where to Find?
From: GUEST,Walt (Guest)
Date: 01 Sep 04 - 04:27 PM

Hello The Board!
I'm having trouble finding a calendar of events for Shanties and Sea Songs around North America.
I'm in western Montana and don't expect to be able to travel to Mystic or even San Diego but anything's possible.
Can anyone direct me to a source for US and Canadian events?(I've had no luck with the ISSA website.)
Any guidance appreciated.
Be Well.

Walt

Hi Walt - Just to let you know if you ever are coming to New England, that tere is a monthly Shanty / Forebitter session at the Press Room Pub in Portsmouth NH. Its the third Saturday of the month and runs from 3:30 to 7:30 PM. We'd love to have you join us sometime.

In addition, the Portsmouth Maritime Folk Festival will be happening this year starting on September 23 and running through the 26th. There will be open singarounds and performances by Jeff Warner, Bob Webb, John Roberts, Cindy Kallett and others. I'll be posting a thread for this as the time gets closer. Meanwhile you can check the website. It will be updated once the webmaster finishes moving from NH to NC -- Tom

Thanks Curmudgeon. Don't know for sure when I'll be home again (born & raised NH) but if I can I'll scheduale a visit in your event time frame. We're Working up a program for performance next May here in Montana; kind of back to my roots as a former sailor and "something completely different" for our early music performers and local audiences.

WYSIWYG - prefresh?- I regret i don't understand.

Sir John - I see no message.

Thanks to all who could help.
Walt

You could try having a look at Bitter End's website at www.shanty.co.uk - it's mostly UK and Europe based but they are happy to put up things from all over the world - the more the merrier!

That goes for the monthly Shanty Sessions at Portsmouth too - just be sure they know which Portsmouth it is!
