King Charle's cell was very nice

See you for the singaround

Hi, having now met 'The Famous Martin From the Barton' at Dunstable's Friday sing around, I'm sorry I didn't manage the rest of the weekend - due to having had a bit too much fire water at a Saturday BBQ I'm afraid. I'm sure it was a great weekend though. All being well I will try to venture forth across the other side of the M1 to try the Barton singaround tomorrow.

Sally

Well he wasn't too famous, though shame the audience wasn't bigger. I enjoyed your songs though Martin, especially the witches one.
It's nice to start putting some faces to mudcat names at last. I seem to recall that Ross, you were described as "oh he's a bit mad".
All will be revealed no doubt !
Sally

It was a good evening last night and some great songs. No you didn't seem as mad as expected Ross - but then appearances can be deceptive - or so I've been told! Yes it was getting a little late so I wanted to get back to the other side of the M1 before I turned into a folkaholic - or something! I'm sure I'll be back again. Will it always be in the function room now? It's just that I thought the bar area seemed more atmospheric - or is it always full of smokers?
Sally

Yeah it is always full of smokers, I am afraid, even if you ask them not to smoke. So we took this bold step, some people prefer it others donot. What about you? Don't forget Benny's Folk Club. In Luton at The Hat Factory Tuesday 28th Sept Del Boy Brimstone. I think you should go there some time Ross and do your Hatters Song. I asume it is up to the high standard they expect there.

Just done a deal with the Dunstable Council. We should be running the club again next year at the festival, and this time we will get on the main leaflets and help with the distribution. And you got off lightly with Ross he can be madder.

Hi Martin - thanks for the compliments

I'm not sure about the back room though - I must admit, being in the pub seemed more atmospheric and friendlier - I don't remember it being particularly smokey either. We generally had the door open even in Winter. Perhaps it's just the change that's effecting us

I spoke to Steve & John in the bar (the two who walked in and walked out again) - they thought that we were a cold cliquey lot and didn't like us at all. I must admit I was a bit shocked

As a non smoker, I'm not really a smoking supporter; but I do find myself slightly astonished about how aggresive and rude non smokers become.

Running a session can be hard

I won't be able to get to Windsor on Saturday. I really want to but I haven't been at home for a weekend, for a month and the house is falling down

The Blue Anchor was good - numbers were managable and lots of nice sounds. The Hat Factory sounds a bit cold - I'd rather play & sing with you lot

Oh goodie Ross I am pleased to hear that. It is hard to know what to do, because I don't like smokers and I can't see what harm smoking outside or in another room would do to people. Clothes stink, hair stinks, throat hurts, and their houses stink, etc etc. Oh yes and it gives not only the person cancer but everyone else as well. If I need a new liver because I drink too much fair enough, that's down to me but it won't affect anyone else will it?   I also think if there are too many of us, Rachel would prefer us out of the way. See you soon Dude.

and more to the point, are you aware that the Spotlight starts again on Sunday 19th Sept?

As a non-smoker, I think that 'round the table' is preferential to in the function room.

And you are a cliquey lot!!!!

Cheers Breezy - I'll try and get to St Albans one Sunday

Sorry I couldn't make Redbourn last night - I've started playing dominoes on Thursdays now so that's finished music for six months on Thursdays

I understand opinions on smoking but I don't understand how being unfriendly and zealously righteous helps - we don't really want to be cliquey if the session is to flourish

Good luck on Saturday at Windsor Martin & Derek
