George - keep me a copy of the new disc at the Getaway please. not long now! I'm just sorry I won't be able to get to any of the UK gigs - will you be doing the same stuff at the Getaway - PLEASE!?

Has your truck got a machine gun so that you can get through border control. :-)
Actually you will only have trouble getting out - Yellow belly is likely to rob you at border control for all remaining Cd's and money that you are taking out of Lincolnshire!!!!!!

I'm thinking of driving a truck to Market Rase, Strollin' Johnny, how many are you good for? Nah, seriously now, looking forward to it... And to the Getaway too, Tinker - I'll certainly bring as many as I can.

Yes Hamish (missing you, mate), we've pushed the boat out on advertising this time, in for a penny in for a pound (x N!).

It's OK for you Southern Toffs - you get to see and hear Greko regularly, but for us joskers up here in the frozen wastes of Darkest Lincolnshire his appearances are as rare as rocking-horse droppings! :0)

Me erstwhile sailing-mate Lester and Mick Peat have been playing tracks on 'Folkwaves' up here, and they sound great. Looking forward to Market Rasen George, bring a few CDs with you!

SJ :0)

Just to double up on Nancy's Getaway comment. Please bring CD's to Getaway. Bringing home Cd's of all the wonderful music I first heard at Getaway is one of the best parts. It also helps ease the withdrawl pains when we return to the real world once again.
Looking forward to meeting you.

Tinker

All the best, George: I note with interest (and awe!) the quarter page advert in fROOTS - and your launch gigs are trailed in their news pages, too. Gotta help get even more punters shoe-horned in.

George,

We both wish we could be there to be part of the throng for your "coming of age", and lend our voices in chorus. Heartfelt congratulations on your newest recording, with hopes there will be many more to come.

We miss you all.
Dan and Nancy

El Greko, please be sure to bring some copies of the new album (an maybe some of the others, too) to the Getaway -- I have no doubt you'll sell them! Looking forward to meeting you --

Nancy

Will definitely catch you at Banbury, mate, and will try and make it down to Northampton (we might even perpetrate a floorspot!) Good luck for the rest of them!

Chris

Subject: Some bad news & some good news
From: George Papavgeris
Date: 23 Sep 04 - 05:10 PM

BAD NEWS: Saskia Tomkins cannot make the St Albans launch concert on 29th October. And I knew that Anahata could not make it either. BUT...

GOOD NEWS: Amanda Whatley will play fiddle at the concert instead of Saskia. And John "squeezy" Spiers will take up the bellows.

Tickets are selling nicely... Don't leave it last minute!

Have you filled all your spots

Was there a good turnout last Sunday?

BRAVO GEORGE on your latest recording & good luck - only another 50 albums before you catch up with JB

Are we supposed to say well done for 9TH(?) in the Olympics for little Breeze - pretty impressive when you think the world population is over six billion - I saw her on the tele (Why not? indeed)

Hi George
We will certainly try "rasen" the Lincolnshire flag, when you come up here to "market" your new CD, on November the 19th.
Anybody wishing to reserve seats can pm me.
We can hold about 80 people.
I am hoping that us northeners will flock to the night and show George that our hospitality is better than what you get down sarf. :-)

Hi george. You will need quite a few at Banbury. If I want one then the entire folk world must be champing at the bit :0)

Best wishes for the "Launch"

Hello George,
I am sure that your gig at the Black Lion, Northampton ( Great Knight Folk Club ) will NOT turn out to be a Black Knight!
Best wishes for the success of your new CD - I have heard some of the tracks and it is GREAT! Buy it now.
Mary

NEW ALBUM:
I spent much of the summer rehearsing and recording "Ordinary Heroes" with some great friends, old and new: Johny Collins, Graeme Knights, Anahata (Melodeon, concertina, cello) and John Breeze were of course involved, but so were also John Thompson and Nicole Murray (aka Cloudstreet), Moira Craig, Saskia Tomkins (violin, viola) and Miranda Sykes (double bass). The album was produced by Robb Johnson.

"Ordinary Heroes" marks my debut under the Irregular label and will be distributed by Proper Music. Being my first album to hit the record stores, it acts as a showcase and therefore contains a mix of old and new. The "old" consists of seven previous "hits" in new arrangements (why, I even learned to play the bouzouki for it!). The "new" include Memory, Langemarck, The Bite Of The Underdog, Without You On Christmas Day, Just Put In The Hours and Ending Of The Day. The release date is 11th October 2004 - from that day you should be able to get it "in all the good record stores", as they say, or if they don't stock it you should be able to order it from them (Catalog number IRR055). It will not be available from my website for some time, so I would urge you to ask for it from the shops. You could still get it from me at my gigs, of course. Talking of which…

LAUNCH CONCERTS:
a)Banbury Festival, 8-9 October
b)Open Door FC, Manchester, 24 October (part of Extravaganza 7)
c)St Albans Windward Folk Song Club, Herts, 29th October
This will be my "home base" launch,
featuring also Miranda, Moira, Saskia et al.
Advance booking strongly recommended - booking details below.
d)Black Knight FC, Northampton, 2 November (with Breezy)
e)Market Rasen FC, Lincs, 19th November

NOTE:
For the St Albans Windward launch, with only 65 places available and 25 tickets already sold, it is adviseable to book in advance, either using a credit card directly from my website St ALbans OH launch booking or from the club itself on Fridays. If neither of those methods is convenient, please PM me directly and we'll sort something out. In any case you will receive a confirmation of your booking from me, with your ticket numbers
