For German catters:

Winnenden VHS starts up its monthly folk gathering on Friday 17 September. 8pm, in the basement of the Spaghetti House, 34 Ringstrasse, Winnenden (about 10 miles NE of Stuttgart on Bundestrasse 14). This is the closest thing to mass folk (with a British Isles flavor) you'll find in this part of the country. They have an open mic in the middle of the session too.
