CANADIAN DEEP ROOTS MUSI FESTIVAL LAUNCHES IN WOLFVILLE SEPTEMBER 17 & 18

he Inaugural Canadian Deep Roots Music Festival will take place in Wolfville, NS, starting on Friday Evening September 17th and running through Saturday Evening with a stellar line-up of local, national and international artists. Evening Concerts are at Convocation Hall at Acadia University; Concerts and Workshops at 10 venues in town and on the Acadia campus all day Saturday. The Festival has a focus on celebrating the musical and cultural heritage of the founding cultures of the Annapolis Valley - close to sacred land of the Mi'kmaq and the heart of Acadie.

Performers include British trio, Artisan, The Whiteley Brothers with their impeccable blues and gospel music, singer/songwriters Grit Laskin, James Gordon, Bill Garrett & Sue Lothrop, Jay Ungar & Molly Mason of Ashokan Farewell fame, Nova Scotian acts Bob Snider, Clary Croft, John Gracie, Gordon Stobbe, Scott Macmillan, The McCready Brothers, and The BBQ Kings as well as accomplished Mi'kmaq artists Cathy Martin, Alan Syliboy and Shalan Joudry. Acadian artists include The Michelle Boudreau-Samson Band, Barbara Le Blanc, and Sylvia LeLievre; also appearing are African-Nova Scotian drummer Henry Bishop and singer Anne Johnson-MacDonald. Local artists include the French medieval band >?Ensemble a Part, Shoulder to Shoulder, Paul Marshall & The Croakin' Toads, Barefoot as well as singer/songwriters Sarah & Kamila, Kate Adams, Cathy Arsenault, Donna & Andy, Rick MacNab and Sharon Nauss-Hughes, and much, much more - Over 40 acts in all!

P align="center">Other exciting features of the Deep Roots Music Festival are:

- exploring our Founding Cultures (Mi'kmaq, Acadian, British Isles and African-Nova Scotian) with fun and informative workshops.

- A huge Harmony Singing Workshop called 'A Thousand Voices In Harmony' with the British a capella group Artisan, the most entertaining trio we know!

- A Great Canadian Tribute every year (Gordon Lightfoot this year), with Festival artists performing various favourites.

- Festival Artists lecturing in Acadia University classrooms on various topics, open to all.

Evening concert tickets are $20; Saturday morning & afternoon $12; Festival passes $45.
