Hello Boston. I'm coming to town Monday the 27th for four nights (days also, but I'm being educated in the daytime). I'm staying in Brookline. I would greatly enjoy getting out to a session or jam, or getting together with Mudcatters in general.

Suggestions please!

I found an oldtime Jam at Sandy's Music in Cambridge Monday night.

Any other ideas?

The Cantab Lounge in Mass Ave, Cambridge was my regular port of call in Boston.

They have a good open mike on Monday nights hosted by Geoff Bartley (which clashes with your oldtime jam unfortunately).

They also have a really good bluegrass jam on Tuesday nights, as I remember. Strangely enough they were always looking for a guitar player, but there is (or was) a phenomenally good mandolin player called Adam who used to join in each week.

Chance, you might want to check out The Folk Song Society of Boston. There is a Wednesday singaround scheduled in Arlington which might be just the thing for you.

Not sure if you'll be one day too early or one day too late or both. But NH is only an hour north of the Boston area and the Portsmouth Maritime Folk Festival runs from the 23d to the 26th and there'll be the weekly session at the Press Room on Oct 1.

Maybe you can make one or both - Tom

Tom, thanks, unfortunately, I'll not be there on those dates. It would be fun to make the Press Room scene.

cheers, chance
