Subject: Lyr Req: The Redneck National Anthem From: Mrrzy Date: 24 Sep 04 - 03:01 PM I used to have this somewhere by someone, a male, country singer... He introduces it as the redneck national anthem, not sure what it's called, but I didn't find it in the DT or the Forum... What I recall goes like this here: I'm a redneck, don't give a darn I'm a redneck, raised on a farm I'm a redneck, wearing old blue jeans I'm a redneck, (...) honky tonk queens I'm a redneck I'm a redneck, wearing big silver buckles I'm a redneck, got scars on my knuckles I'm a redneck, (something) I'm a redneck, (something else Love those dance hall women and that grinding honkytonk band Groove on Willie and Waylan, I was born to wave a sixpack in my hand I'm a redneck, (something) I'm a redneck, (something) I'm a redneck, born in Austin I'm a redneck, banned in Boston I'm a redneck (redneck!) Love those... Anybody? Thanks! |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: The Redneck National Anthem From: pdq Date: 25 Sep 04 - 05:47 PM Ray Wylie Hubbard wrote "Up Against the Wall, Redneck Mother", although Jerry Jeff Walker's version is better known. The late Johnny Russell wrote and sang "Rednecks, White Socks & Blue Ribbon Beer". He is best known for "Act Naturally" as done by The Beatles and Buck Owens. Russell also penned "The Son of Hickory Holler's Tramp", "Making Plans", and "Catfish John". |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: The Redneck National Anthem From: 12-stringer Date: 26 Sep 04 - 01:08 AM Mrrzy: What you're looking for is a song from the 70s by Vernon Oxford. Title is "Rednecks (The Redneck National Anthem)." I remember that one well, having heard it often on the jukebox while quaffing cold Falls City. Maybe if I had a cold Falls City right now I could remember the lyrics myself! This site claims to have chords and, I suppose, lyrics, but you have to register to view them. (They say it's free and painless.) http://country.totaltabs.com/bands.asp?id=1430 A google search for "Vernon Oxford" and "redneck national anthem" will also turn up a place or two where you can hear snippets of the record, and maybe even buy one if you're so inclined. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: The Redneck National Anthem From: Jim Dixon Date: 27 Sep 04 - 08:16 AM REDNECK! (THE REDNECK NATIONAL ANTHEM) was written by Mitchell Torok and Ramona Redd. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: The Redneck National Anthem From: Tannywheeler Date: 30 Sep 04 - 07:52 PM So, who did "Pink shoes and tan shoelaces; A polkadot vest, and, man-o-man! He(? I?) wore Pink shoes and tan shoelaces..." You start quoting old lyrics and the subconcious dredges up all sorts of bits and pieces. I think the bit I've just remembered was classified as "rockabilly". |
