I urgently need the chords to the VERSE ONLY of the old 50's hit, "Dream". Damned if I can nut them out - and I worked out "Lushlife" by ear!
Please help, people!
Max

The verse is a straight Major , Minor , Dominant , SubDominant   Or

C Am F G all the way through . The 'middle eight' is a bit more

complex - F G C F G D G or thereabouts . Hope that helps , though i

dont give guarentees as this is dredged up from learning by Osmosis .

Dead right for the verse. Two beats on each chord. Middle eight is more like F///C///G7///C///F///G7///D7///G7///

The Minors in the middle eight are a lot better - Never actually played the song exccept backing someone else(playing Whistle-NO Chords) . Never Trust Osmosis !

Which "Dream" song are we talking about - the Everly Brothers' "All I Have to Do Is Dream"? That one and lots of others are in this thread (click), but no chords.

Each day I climb - on the scales
only to find - my eyesight fails
unable to see, I'm as happy as can be
and dream... dream-dream-dream...

each night I wake - with delight
and down the stairs - I tiptoe light-
ly and in the dark, find comfort in a bite
and dream... dream-dream-dream

Just a little treat, only just a bit,
any time, any place
just a piece of cheese - gee-whiz
it never was more than a trace!

For when I climb - down the stairs
I know I'll find - my comfort there
the joy on my face - only blankets my despair
for cream... cream-cream-cream

Every meal I ate - helped me to forget
what it says - on the scales
so tomorrow please - gee whiz
I pray they will tell no more tales

For when I climb - down the stairs
I know I'll find - my comfort there
the joy on my face - only blankets my despair
for cream... cream-cream-cream

George Papavgeris, late Saturday night - inspired by a Mudcat thread.
And a double Glenmorangie.

Sorry guys, It's "Dream" (by Johnny Mercer I think) eg:
             "Dream when you're feeling blue,
dream that's the thing to do,
just watch the smoke rings rise in the air",etc. The McGuire Sisters did it in 51/52 I think It's the verse to THAT song that I'm after. Perhaps I should try a jazz thread. I had it on a John Pizzarelli cd. He's the son of Buckyperga rsesdrcer

Thanks Clint. That's the CHORUS you posted! I want the chords to the 16 bar VERSE/Intro.
Does anyone know of a site dedicated to VERSES from old standards?

Clint, I think these chords are easier to manage for the chorus--Max--we may find the verse eventually--in the meantime, let everyone else play the chorus, if they want-

||AA/AA/G#7 G#7/G#7 G#7/
F#m F#m/F#m F#m/F#7 F#7/F#7 F#7/
Bm7 Bm7/E7 E7/A A/F#7F#7/
B7 B7/B7 B7 /Bm7 Bm7/E7E7/
/A A/AA/G#7 G#7/G#7 G#7/
F#m F#m/F#m F#m/F#7 F#7/F#7 F#7/
Bm7 Bm7/ Dm7Dm7/A A/F#7 F#7/
Bm7 Bm7/ E7 E7/ A A /AA||

You'll find the duck's guts chords, lyrics and MIDI HERE.

Verse:

Get in touch with that sundown fellow, As he tiptoes across the sand.
He's got a million kinds of stardust, Pick your fav'rite brand, and:

Chorus:

Dream when you're feelin' blue,
Dream that's the thing to do.
Just watch the smokerings rise in the air,
You'll find your share of memories there.
So Dream when the day is thru,
Dream and they might come true,
Things never are as bad as they seem,
So Dream, Dream, Dream.

Regards, John
