Subject: BS: Help: Drug House Next Door!
From: Dewey
Date: 26 Sep 04 - 04:27 AM

I live in a trailer court. My next door neighbor is most likely making or distrubiting meth or some other substance from his trailor.

My suspicion of the activity started in the following way:

I was awakened 5 a.m. to the sound of gunfire coming from a relatively unknown but close distance. I heard a cry of distress from next door. It was either the yelp of a dog or a human being.

One minute later, I heard the sound of a scanner radio come on full blast next door, it was not only on, it was amplified through a P.A. Speaker and was blasting out in all directions through my next door negihbor's window, loudly carrying throughout all adjoining yards throughout the neighborhood.

The house next door was black yet I could hear individuals running throughout my trailer and the neighboring yards.

I immediately called 911, and was a bit scared, because I was on top of the disturbance, and didn't know if someone might have been hurt or was planning to hurt me.

the police said it was fireworks in the neighborhood, but I know that this was not the case as I can totally discern the differences between the sounds, one being a pop and the other being a hollow boom!

Anyway the neighbor in question started to do other very perculiar things as well. such as:

1. Never sleeping at the place of residence whether night or day.
2. Never staying for more than an hour at the place of residence.
3. Never mowing the lawn
4. Allowing multiple cars and people (mostly 18 years of age) to pop in and out of the trailer and open and close all the doors, as well as tinker with the cars.

5. Never EVER turning a light on in the trailer though someone was ALWAYS there inside sitting in the dark.

6. Going out in the dark, from the dark house, honking the car horn ONCE (and only once) which ALWAYS resulted in a car pulling up and loading/unloading something into the other parked car that sat there.

7. Coming out of the dark house, into the darkness at least three time per night to figet with the car doors, opening and closing them constantly in the dark through the night.

8. Having a steady stream of 18 year olds (about close to a dozen) come in on foot and sit around in my yard and the neighbors yard in the dark. Knocking, very quietly TWICE on the door and being let in. The knock was/is TWICE never more than this, and was/is always followed by the guy in the trailer who sit all night in the dark, letting the knocking person in.

9. Bikes are left there and people arrive in the middle of the night on them and disappear with the same bikes.

10. the onwer starts his car in the middle of the night leaving all four doors of the car open while the engine is running.

I have called the police numerous times, but nothing has been resolve yet. The park manager says the background check of the owner of the tralier clears, and that the owner, leaves the lights off because he his a repo man and fears reprisal for the owners of the cars he reposesses, but this still does not explain the open car doors, running engines, and various cars and people that freely enter this house in the middle of the night and in the dark and sit in this house in the dark. Also it does not explain why there are so many teenagers there at night as well as the day, who have access to the house as well as the cars, and who all run like a bat out of hell both into the trailer and out of the trailer, squalking tires, runnning and looking behind their backs, turning lights off in the house that might have been left on as soon as they enter, wearing hoods over there face in 90 degree weather, to mask there faces etc.

Would appreciate any advice on what this might all mean and what to do about it!

Dewey

Take as many descriptions of the teens and others as you can. Photograph discretely what you can. Keep a log of license plates etc. Video or audio record strange noises. let the landlord know of what could happen to his property if he is running a meth lab on it. They will destroy part of it. If it was a house in the US they would raze it. He would be SOL. Good luck. mg

Thanks mg.

I would also like to add that the Park Manager was once a Police Officer, and that he also leases many of the trailors, and the former owner did not have a clear title, and that the trailor remains unsold, but was leased to this "new tenant" The new owner, thus cannot truly be called the rightful "owner"

I know nothing about trailer courts. Are these private things with a land owner? If so, I'd take the matter up with that person or company - no resolve would probably for me lead to thoughts of moving elsewhere - I'd consider them bad landlords.

Manufacture of meth produces a very strong, foul, chemical odor. It's one of the ways the police catch them. Dealers and manufacturers are usually more circumspect than you describe. But, if you're certain, move. Especially in gang related cases, people who interfere often end up dead.

Well, something is going on.......and I agree about the smell. If there is no really awful smell, it could be cars or marijuana....or ready made pills with the lab somewhere else. Do all the documentation you can, and then take it along with your reasons to the police station and demand an interview with the drug cop.

911 is useful for immediate emergencies, but it sounds as if you need to find out if the local police have an Anti-Drug or Organized Crime task force. If so, meet with them...away from your home, describe what you have witnessed, and get their advice. BTW, just because the park manager is a former police officer doesn't mean he's clean...that may be why he's an ex-cop.

Gunfire? Eww! Move to a different country.

If you don't want to do this for some strange reason of your own, what about asking the owner of the trailer park to let you move to a different site? Maybe "I really want an east-facing site, for luckier feng shui" rather than "I don't want to live next door to people who kill each other" - after all, he has to rent the site again ;)

If you can't move, then don't bother calling the cops, call the drug squad or the anti-illegal-guns squad (if there's such a thing) directly - assuming that you think they're trustworthy, and your neighbours won't find out who grassed them up.

Play classical music - for some reason this seems to have a repellent effect on young tearaways.

Become invisible to these people.

But really, option 1 - move country - is the sensible one. (Where are you, by the way?)

And, why, again, is it that you can't leave this place? --even if the guy is running a repo service--the place is going down hill--a residential trailer park only takes tenants like that when it can't get better ones--if you stay, get used to it, because it will only get worse--

As to Mary Garvey's advice--it isn't healthy to take pictures of people who sneak around in the dark--and, if it is a meth lab, and it is "confiscated", the gov't will simply own it, instead of whoever does now, and the manager will still rent it to whoever he can get--

I would keep a VERY low profile, if i couldn't move. But, if the cops can't help you...........call the health department, or planning and building. Once you get a county agency involved, it pretty much forces law enforcement to. I have seen both of our local agencies bust meth labs. First clue as to a meth lab is the smell. Imagine a bezillion pounds of nail polish remover dumped outside. HazMat is another good agency to contact. Meth labs truly mess up the soil, and for a long time. Had a friend whose horse went starkers after being on such contaminated soil.

I was thinking along the same lines, but a Molotov Cocktail--a fifth bottle stoppered with a rag and filled a quarter up with petrol will do as well. Shake, light and throw. The Hungarian freedom fighters in '66 used this simple technique against Russian tanks in the streets of Budapest. Sometimes it worked!

It's complicated and expensive to clean up a place after a meth lab has been there. My thoughts are that a trailer isn't worth the expense or trouble, but you can't let people move into a place like that until it is cleaned.

Is the production of this stuff with Sudafed as stinky as it is with all of the "traditional" meth lab chemicals? I can only buy a couple of boxes at a time because all of the stores are limiting purchases, due to the easy conversion of pseudophedrine into meth. It might not have a smell.

Personally, I'd get out of the park altogether. And I'd call the various police entities in the region (city, county, state), and the ATF or the FBI if I thought they'd listen. Let each of them know you've called the others, and get the names of the folks you talk to at each office. And look up the numbers for the local television stations. May and November are the "sweeps" months when they're trying to improve their ratings (it increases the price they can charge for advertising). Offer the story, photos (if you haven't gotten killed taking them--no flash, please!) and names of officers you've spoken with. And let them take it from there.

Hey! Less of the Molotov cocktail nonsense, please! I know you're joking, but still - there might be kids in there, and in any case, however nasty people making drugs are, they don't deserve to be burnt to death.

No, the government doesn't. But the property owner does, and if a meth lab was in the place, it constitutes a biohazard. The places reek of the drugs and cleanup involves removing all textiles (carpet, drapes, upholstered items), washing down then painting over all of the walls, ceilings, etc., and clearing out the heating/AC system. It's expensive. Insurance sometimes covers it.

When they bust those places and kids are there invariably the kids are in a kind of stupor, because of chemicals range through the air. It's a selfish, nasty sort of business for children to grow up around.

A VERY difficult one. And by no means unique to trailer parks or America.

Its one of the reasons why gun laws make things better in England. At least the assholes don't tend to be armed over here. The presence of guns makes things a little more scary. Plus a lttle more difficult for local citizens to deal with vigilante style.

The molotov cocktail is plain wrong - the kind of people involved are just the kind to leave a child unattended inside.

The cops are a tricky one. they are ALWAYS unwilling to act. Search me why, but I always suspect its not unconnected with the vast amounts of money involved.

I agree with the guy who said the best temporary thing is get your trailer moved if possible.

Guest JTT, i find it highly offensive and discriminatory that you should assume kids would go around slinging molotov coctails just because someone on a forum suggests it , obviously in jest- please credit us with some intelligence! :) Besides, when did kids ever do what their elders told them to, anyway?

As regards the meth lab problem, i would go back to the police. Vigilante action is likely to backfire on you, the kind of bottom-dwelling pond life who sell speed to children probably aren't to bothered about commiting acts of violence. If they don't listen this time, tell them you suspect they may have terrorist/child pornography/illegal arms dealing associations... sorry to be cynical, but it may prove effective.

Best of luck!

Okay, you want responsible actions? Get meet with your neighbors, takes upa collection and have sign printed that read "Drug Dealer Lives Here", "No Smoking: Meth Lab Here", "Drug Dealer Parking", etc., etc., etc....

Then plan a day light demonstartion, send a press release out, call the cops and be prepared to be arrested for trespassing as you hammer the sign posts down in the yard in front of the trailer...

100% Guarenteed or Double Your Money Back!!!!

No joke. Now go do it and get this bum outta yer life...

Update:

I was actually wrong about the ownership of the Mobile home in question. The original (old owner) still owns the mobile home, but lives in Texas.

The Park Manager told me that the Rent is paid up! ($$$$$$)
One year in advance! ($$$$$$$)

This person was buying Rent to Own Funiture and a Rent to Own Big Screen Television the year before from a Payday Loan Shark Company.

(I've got a pretty good idea where all that windfall money came from to pay the advance rent-:)

The teenagers also have some very nice new cars they've been driving around in.

Dewey

P.S. Sadly, I am not making any of this up!

Dewey, it really doesn't sound like a meth lab. I will agree about the smell. I've done ride alongs with the local police and watched 2 raids for meth labs. They really do smell.

It might be a "distribution center" for various drugs. Usually, people who have a location where they make drugs do not want hundreds of people visiting it. They like to keep them as secret as possible.

3 things you might want to try (and please try some of the reasonable idea above)

Contact the local high school and tell them you believe you've seen high school kids coming and going. It doesn't matter if your really have, all that much. But they might look into it.

Contact the local TV stateions - One of them is bound to have a "problem solver" segment with a rabid reporter. They like to point out who bad things are, how the little guy is getting the shaft, and how poorly local government is doing it's work.

Contact you local city or county representative. Tell them you vote and would like to see this investigated.

Dewey--Of course, the "teenagers" could be driving the repo'd cars--

Anyway, whatever is going on there is going on with the blessings of the trailer park manager--the bottom line is that they are there because he wants them there, if they go, there is a good chance that someone else just a bad will move in--and if they stay, he will bring other. equally dubious types in to other units as they become available--

I don't know you, Dewey, but you like Lawrence Welk, and you live in a trailer park--that makes you OK in my book--take care of yourself--

I'm not ruling out the distribution idea either, it seems very likely as the guy tinkers with his cars in the daytime and loads/unloads stuff in the dark. You are correct there hasn't been any oder or activity from the house itself that I know of.

UPDATE:

Good news today! Th drug task force has final got involved. They are currently observing the area. There is now an investigation going on.
