Sorority Songs: Does anyone know any?

Subject: Looking for traditional sorority songs.

I did a mudcat forum search and could find no discussion of traditional sorority songs. These songs are learned & sung secretly by sororities and are often not written down anywhere.

Do you know any sorority songs that are passed on by word of mouth? If yes, I would be interested recording you for a folklore purposes.

We didn't have sororities or fraternities, but the women I worked with in the library used to sing

Put on your old red bustle
And we'll go out to hustle
For tomorrow the mortgage comes due....

That's all I remember of it.

My sainted mother (1908 - 2000, bless her reprobate soul)in reference to the one immediately above ("Rapaire"), sang a version that went so:

Git out yer old red bustle,

Tonight ya gotta' hustle,

Tomorrow the rent falls due.

If the main street's busy,

Take the side street Lizzy,

If you cain't git five, take two.
