Subject: SUNNYCAMP, directions to From: mg Date: 29 Sep 04 - 08:02 PM HI everyone including fence-sitters who have not signed up yet, and that is a few of you. Anyway, I am superbusy at two jobs and fear I will fail to get maps etc. out. Very good maps can be gotten at Mapquest...just put in 27600 (I think) Sandridge Road, Nahcotta Washington from wherever you are. If that does not work, just put in Nahcotta WA. Mapquest.com is the name. Anyway, please bring a map with you. There are some confusing turns that I can not explain. Usually either one is going to be OK but you wnat to make sure. If in doubt, ask someone. Follow any signs that say Ilwaco or Long Beach. DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT GOING TO OCEAN SHORES. If you get to Aberdeen, you have gone too far. You should have turned 10 miles ago (if you are coming from Olympia). DO NOT GO NORTH FROM ABERDEEN. People have done this. You are going to the Long Beach Peninsula, and you will be going through OCEAN PARK with a P. Get to Long Beach proper, and head north..road runs north and south. Ocean will be on your left...stop and visit it...227th is a very nice place to turn off..225th ?? Old Coast Guard station. Nice beach. Anyway, from Long Beach, go about 10 miles north. Come to a stop light. Jack's is at the stop light, in Ocean PARK. Turn right. (Jack's is great for last minute shopping or just to poke around in..old general store). Go about a mile till road comes to a t. Go left. You will be going about a mile or so. Go past sign that says ARK restaurant. Go past sign that says Port of Peninsula. You are almost there. That is about 272. Go to 276..right past white house..stand of trees. If dark, look for flashlights, balloons etc. Hard to see the camp Morehead sign or the turn into the park. If you get to Harbor View Motel you have gone just a bit too far. Drive slowly back a couple of blocks and turn into stand of trees by Camp Morehead sign. There are you are. Much simpler to do in the daylight..but I will have some sort of lighting around the sign..flashlights, glowlights, something. Bring something for potluck Friday...we'll have fruit and sandwich stuff if no one remembers..it's hard to bring stuff if you are driving huge distances..but Jack's has nice chicken etc... So see you soon. My home phone is 360-6420-8049. Email me at work mgarvey@wsu.edu if no resonse from mgarvey@pacifier.com..havintg some comuter problems at home...mg |
Subject: RE: SUNNYCAMP, directions to From: mg Date: 30 Sep 04 - 01:47 AM I'll keep popping this up. It's just next week....not that I am ready...well, there isn't much to doing it. Hope to get there around 3:30 or so but if not, make yourselves to home and start singing. Everything should be unlocked. mg |

Subject: RE: SUNNYCAMP, directions to From: mg Date: 30 Sep 04 - 11:42 PM It has always been a lot of fun. From Olympia, you can take the Willapa Bay route, going almost to Aberdeen, (stop if you get to Aberdeen..too far)...or go to Centralia and take the road to Raymond. Or for maximal highway, go to Longview, cross bridge and go to Astoria and then up to Long Beach. DO NOT ANYONE GO TO OCEAN SHORES. WRONG PLACE BY MANY MANY MILES. MG |
Subject: RE: SUNNYCAMP, directions to From: mg Date: 01 Oct 04 - 02:57 PM Hi again. I have made up some flyers to leave off at Jack's store in OCEAN PARK....NOT OCEAN SHORES. You will be almost there once you get to Jack's. Just ask for the flyer or look to see if it is posted on the bulletin boards. Or ask for directions to Camp Morehead, or the Methodist Camp. Make sure they do not send you to the camp on the ocean side. You want the Willapa Bay camp that is near the Ark Restaurant. Also, if anyone has a cell phone and would be there and we could post the number if someone gets lost..it can be quite dark at night. I personally do not have a cell phone any more... mg |
