We have some great acts booked for Oct and Nov all of which will get their own thread nearer the time. So let's celebrate by turning up at The Bull in Barton le Clay and have some acoustic fun. Yippppeeee. Who's coming then?

I went to a party with Martin Dent once. You should have seen him with the nibbles - I pretended I didn't know him and left. If he did that in the Bull there would be trouble.

Don't forget everyone. The next Monday after tomorrow we have a double special "Anahata and Mary Humphries" AND hopefully "My Guru" too. That's a bigger KICK ARSE double than Arsenal or even Luton Town. Yippee.

Better cancel the nibbles

How is Piers? - did you like the card - it took us half the session to record it

I would say a week on Monday is probably bigger than a Inter/AC Milan derby

I have just sent the e-mail reminder to the faithful

Should be an exciting non smoking Autumn in Barton

Piers is well thank you Ross. I am currently on tour with Metallica so I won't be able to come on Monday. The card was brilliant, in fact I showed it to some people today and they were wowed!

Sounds like Barton is becoming huge - keep up the good work!

Piers

Hope Liz is well - I think Theo would be pleased to see you at the Fox

How are the fiddle and the mandolin going?

What's the Pope doing these days?

The Mandolin is going great, but I have broken a string on the fiddle, so I will have to wait a bit longer to play that. Here is a musical question, open to all for debate. My friend asked me "What is the diffrence between a fiddle and a violin?" I said they are the same, except a violin is for houty touty people and a fiddle is for normal people. What does the panel make of that?

What's the difference between a violin and a fiddle?

A fiddle is fun to listen to.

When violins started to become mass produced and cheaper, the largest German comany was called something like fidle

Fiddle was a corrupted word evolved from the manufacturer - so I suppose you're right

I suppose a bit like fender in guitar terms

Guru wants a clue as to what your requirements are, from her, for the 11th - Martin

I used to play bongo's with Metallica - how are me old mates, `fat bollocks' and `farty pants' - you can hear my thirty minute solo on the album - `born to ride a motorbike awfully fast'

Ross, you'll be saddened by the news that 'Fat Bollocks' chucked 'Farty Pants' out of the band. The official reason was 'musical differences', but I have it on good authority that it was the result of a suggestion by the bands spritual advisor (Blofo Mofo) that 'Farty Pants' was draining energy from the bands 'self' - and he smelled. But for my money 'Born to . . . awfully fast' was the bands most creative moment. Your bongo solo segues into the Kazoo chorus very effectively.

Piers

Hi, Martin/Ross,

Can't make tonight, but next week sounds great. If I come along, can I have floor spot please?

Good to see that Piers is still nowhere near regaining (or should it just be gaining?) his sanity!

Steve.

REAL WORLD - no b*****d ever told me that existed - no wonder I struggle

I look forward to doing my duty at the big night - where do you want me to stick the broom handle?

Blofo Mofo - is he still president of the Royal British Legion

Look forward to seeing you CLLLLR - it's been a long time

Christine "Moses" Connolley is unlikely to be Bartoning next Monday because Les Sullivan is on at Herga. I've sort of double booked myself over this, but as it's a while since I've seen Mary and Anahata I'll be going for a Barton. Chris and I are singing a few together now, so I'll see if I can prize her away from Herga for a Monday evening soon so that you can sample our new partnership.

Martin do come to the Duke on Fridays and the Spotlight on Sundays to hear and see ref with moses.

This Friday Karen and Colin Thompson from Lincs, very professional semi-pros with a high standard of perfomance and musicianship.

On Sunday a chance to catch the fast tracking Queensbury Rules who have been signed to a major folk agency recently and are being predicted for great things. I know bout lorna but The Q R wont be appearing for this fee much longer!!

They have and are working very hard and succeeding at presenting some good songs with lovely harmonies.

When are you giving them a featured evening then?

Hi Martin

I think I concur - Derek, Mike O, Rita, Yvonne, Steve, Nigel Benson, Pat, Bert Tann, John B, Alan, Carlos and Bill

With you and me - 14 - good turn out

It's good to see so much interest in Barton - that owes a lot to you Martin and you deserve a big pat on the back

What sort of feedback did you get from Nigel?

I'm off to Lowestoft this weekend, so I won't be lovely anywhere local

Ask for 'Lowestoft Rock ' by George Papavgeris, bout the closing of the fishing fleet in Aug 2002, the song has already been featured on BBC Radio Suffolk.

its got a bit of a punch to it!

Yeah, your right there JB - it's a great song - George certainly knows how to research a song and make you feel it's something to do with real life

Lowestoft's changed a lot over the years - it's going to be a hard weekend
