Another offering, for what it's worth.

Hows 'bout them folkies, ain't they cool
Singin' songs 'bout Samhain, songs 'bout Yule
Songs 'bout lovin', songs 'bout wars
Songs 'bout peace and songs 'bout whores
All the 'speriance of the human mind
Rememberin' the words, well that's a bind.

Pete

In the early 1980s (or whenever it was the New York City subway tokens were 75c), there was a story in the New York Times about lowlifes who blocked the slots in subway turnstyles, so that the token would be stuck just below the opening. Then, when the first customer had given up in frustration, they would sally forth & *suck* the token out of the slot for use in another turnstyle. The Times interviews an official, who stated that this was "a nonsituation" (his way of saying "not a matter of great concern") & that he had not formed a Token Sucker Squad. This seemed like Masonic material, and I wrote a Them poem that went something like this:

How about them Token Suckers?
Ain't they the pits?
Sucking them tokens
To save six bits,
Sucking that dirty brass,
Sucking it clean,
Lurking in the shadows
Of the turnstile machine,
Hoping Mr Silberfarb
Will wander thru the station,
Hoping they can catch him
In a nonsituation.
How about them Token Suckers?
Ain't they odd?
Keep an eye peeled
For the Token Sucker Squad.
How to be a Token Sucker?
Don't even try it.
It won't get you much,
And it's not a healthy diet.

After watching last night's Presidential candidates debate and then hearing some of the 'analysis' by CNN, Fox, ABC, etc., I am provoked to submit this observation>

Them Spin Doctors
(by Genie)

How 'bout them spin doctors, ain't they sly?
Show 'em the facts and they call it all lies,
Swaying the public, pushin' they agenda,
Mixin' up the facts like salad in a blenda.
How to be a spin doc, I figgered it out:
Just plug yo' eyes & ears, turn loose yo' mout'!

For what it's worth - verse 2

Gotta check the BS, not another post
About G Dubya, the White House ghost
Isn't it strange, isn't it true
He don't give a damn about me and you
World Class leader, gives me pains
I'm sure that man got s**t for brains.

Well, rats, there went the rest of my post, into the ether. Lessee if I can redo it.
http://users2.ev1.net/~smyth/linernotes/thesongs/ThemPoems.htm#Song%20lyrics is the url (not making the blicky this time) for the existing Them Poems... We need more of these, Kirk, many more!

Example: Them Hors D'Oeuvres (pr: Them Whore Doovers)
How about them hors d'oeuvres, ain't they sweet
Little piece of cheese and a little piece of meat!

Favorite rhyme from another:
How about them moose goosers, aint' they dumb
Some use a umbrella, some use a thumb!

(What a visual!)

So, how about them Scab Pickers? He already did Them Banjo Pickers...
or - this just came to me, needs another verse or two:
Them Mudcatters:
How About them Mudcatters, ain't they silly
Staying on the Internet willy-nilly
Finding obscure lyrics, finding olden tunes
Talking bout the universe July into June!
How to be a mudcatter? Don't need a ticket
Find a link to Mudcat, sit down and click it!

There are many threads on Mason Williams - just put Mason Williams in the search box and see - and here is a link to the existing Them Poems . We need more of these, Kirk, many more!
Example: Them Hors D'oeuvres (pronounced Them Whore Doovers)
How about them hors d'oeuvres, ain't they sweet
Little piece of cheese and a little piece of meat!
My favorite rhyme in any other:
How about them moose-goosers, aint' they dumb
Some use a umbrella, some use a thumb
What a visual!
So, how about Them Scab Pickers? He already has Them Banjo Pickers...
