Mudcatter Radriano and I will be releasing an indie CD of sea music, and are choosing a manufacturer. (We already have hired a graphic artist). We are impressed with what Oasis has to offer, and will very likely go with them, but I do want to get your opinions, and, if you've done business with Oasis, what kind of experiences you've had with them. If any manufacturer impresses you more than Oasis, I'm all ears. We will of course post to mudcat when the CD is ready. Thank you much for any opinions and advice!

www.mixonic.com has great service and does a good job with what one sends them...I found out about them on Mudcat when Amos was looking around for a way to do the Mudcat CDs.

We used Sound Performance (offices in Sheffield and London) who did a very professional job on Julie's CD "At Last".

I can tell you from my own experience that Oasis does very professional, top-notch work, and they offer tangential goodies such as distribution with a number of online stores, satellite radio airplay, etc.

Another well-reputed company is Disc Makers (www.discmakers.com). they have an even wider range of products and services.

Good luck with your CD!

Cheers,
Michael

I've used DiscMakers for my last 2 CD's and have been very happy with the product and the price. The work is done quickly, the quality has been very professional and their staff very knowledgable and friendly. When I've needed to re-order, they have been very quick to run of the order and get them to me and their re-order price is very easy on the wallet.

I have used Disc Makers for 4 Cd's and am very happy with the quallity of their product. They are not the cheapest but are upfront about what they give you . Some corners are better not to cut ! My last cd I did the soft cover$1000.00 for 1000 units. Great price but the sales on this cd have been slower because of it I think . Hopefully not the music's fault . They do a Digi Pack offer that I would try next time. They look like something James Taylor or Bonnie Rait would use on a project . You realy do best on the reorder side of things so once youve sold the first 1000 you are in a better place with the higher end packages.
The only rule my wife Erica has given me on making cd's is that the last one has to have broken even before I start on the next project. "Out and About" is half way there . Of cource the first two are in the black so maybe i can count them all together to get to make the next one. Tyhis proccess is addictive !!! Godd luck and see you in the studio ! All the best , Guy

Roll & Go used Oasis and was quite pleased with the result. We provided them a master CD and files for the graphics and layout. I think we ended up paying about $1500 for a 1000 CD's. We specified jewel cases rather then soft cases. I now believe their basic package includes more than the 4 page insert we got.

We did request a proof of what the graphics would look like and sent them prints of what we thought the colors should be. They were nice to work with.

Cheerily,
Charley Noble

Thank you all for your suggestions! Much appreciated. It looks like the consensus is either Oasis or Disc makers. Thanks, John Robinson. I failed to mention that we're looking for a manufacturer in the USA, but I appreciate your suggestion.

Anyone with ideas for Foolestroupe?
