Aw, c'mon, bee-dubya-ell -- last year you got more than a rock from me! You make it sound as if it was the only thing in the package!

(Of course, I threw it in at the last minute as a total afterthought and I'm really glad it made so much of a hit. It's a very nice rock, gathered just down the road from me, and full of garnets. Got more of 'em piled in the side yard. Just sent you a little one cuz the Postal Disservice makes it so darned expensive to send rocks to people and Florida is a looooong way to throw from New Hampshuh.)

I apologise for the delay in writing, had a small reindeer crisis, that needed dealing with (never store the carrots near the sherry). You now have my full attention and I await hints as to what you might like for christmas (if you've been a good girl of course)

Hello, 4-S

I don't log in for a day & what do I see - pressies accumulating for my (non-existant) chimney. Thankyou, thankyou, plural pressies is a Good Thing & Much Appreciated.

However, the only chimney here is on my doll's house & it is not open at the top. I'd better get a knife or something sharp to it or the pressie will just bounce back into space when dropped towards the chimney.

earwig willies???? I thought you working on being nice? Be very careful young man or Santa will get very angry and ... nevermind. So what do you know about earwig willies? Are they in proportion? Do they come in assorted shapes and sizes? Do they have all the usual male appendage problems - erectile disfunction? premature ejaculation? social diseases? Are earwigs social?

Now you know that your SS is female. hee hee

To my Secret Santa:

I am alive. That means that if you were bettin' I was dead so you could save a few bucks by weaseling out of this Secret Santa thing, you're shit outta luck.

However, I am very easy to please. About the only gift I can think of that wouldn't be appreciated would be an accordion. And most years I would probably even appreciate the accordion. It's just that I have a surplus of firewood this year due to our little visit from Hurricane Ivan and I'd rather burn it than an accordion.

Last year, I got a rock from Bat Goddess. It's a really cool rock and I love it. It's sitting on the window ledge beside my computer as I type this. It is very quiet and well-behaved.

If you have any mismatched socks I can use them to wrap pottery to take to art shows.

See? I was serious about the "easy to please" bit.

But they have left some indeciph .... unfathomib .... tricky clues as to where they live.

*thinks* "Wonder where I can get me one of them Acme Automated Santa Traps?   If I bag the big guy, them elves will surely come a'running, and then I can sure show em what happens to little ones who pull too hard on my tail feathers..."

Thank You Santa !!!! I needed a pick me up today and you did great. Now the Mudcat Locator puts NO Mudcatters in Surrey, but I suppose there are clues out there if I'm just wise enought to find them...Or maybe I don't understand UK geography very well.... I'm having fun noticing that they didn't bother to match the seasons to the pictures in the calener. Beautiful country though, can I hitch a ride out there on your way by with the pressie???

Thanks again

Well, Sandra I may be a little late tossing your pressies down your chimney. North Pole Yard has failed me so I have enlisted the aid of ESIO (Elven Security Intelligence Organisation). They have assured they will come through for me. Apparently they have many contacts such as the KIA (Kringle Intelligence Agency) and the PBI (Polar Bureau of Investigations), so I am sure we will have it for you!

I've been gathering gifties like a squirrel gathers acorns. Now they're piled up in the hall. (Well, "pile" might be a bit exaggerated, but it's a well-shaped little mound.) Now I need to make the wrapping paper (well, you see, I chew up cellulose-producing fibre and . . . nononono . . . makes me sound like a North American aquatic mammal who builds dams or a stingy type wasp).

In between all this activity, I will try to find a suitable shipping container so that the package can slide down the chimney, I mean, land in your postal recepticle before the bikinis are on the shop display manniquins. (In other words, well in time for the mid-winter holiday season.) I'd hate to make you wait until Robert Burns' Birthday or any other holiday after the end of December.

JennBrooks Secret Armadillo Wrangler/Santa...

Don't think I've forgotten you, Jenn. Old Santa has been a bit under the weather lately, not his usual jolly self. A week on the sauce (wel...actually, it's something the elves brew up during the summer) and I'm now clean and sober and back on the job.   Still on the lookout for adrenalin junky armadillos that are willing to live with hungry cats, still stuffing a sack for your chimney...you HAVE a chimney, don't you? Have noted your directions...piece of cake. Now, having shaken off the after-effects of post election clinical depression, I'm ready to rock and roll. Be good!

The pressie that those naughty gremlins delivered today is perfectly safe to be opened today and does not contain any 'self-destructive' magic spells. Obviously the sprites have managed to keep the pixies in line so that your 'before-Christmas' pressie has arrived safely, praise be to the Customs of your country.

Abject apologies for any confusion caused, Enjoy....

Well, gifts all wrapped, packed & passed across to the Reindeer ready for delivery - they're really looking forward to their visit!

Now don't stop being good Tinker Dear, both parcels are full of magic. One is as light as the air and will be with you quite soon. The other is heavier & full of wonderful goodies, spells & recipies which will make it slower to arrive.

However, no peeking before I arrive on Christmas Eve to comfirm your presents! Looking (or guessing) too soon will cause the contents to disappear & the whole MadCat world will know what a bad girl you've been......

That way you don't have to deal with decimals.

Dear Secret Santa,

I have been a very good girl this year, well, mostly!

I love sweets and would adore a regional specialty! I love reading, although I prefer to read stuff that gets me away from real life and has happy endings, I guess I never grew out of fairy stories! I go to the cinema occasionally, often to avoid gardening - actually I like nice gardens, but I never seem to have time to work in my own. I tend to like bouncy music that cheers me up when I hear it or lovely relaxing music to make me purr.

I do celebrate Christmas, I'm like a big kid with it. I decorate the house to within an inch of it's life in gold, red and green as early in December as I can get away with it, and I definitely have a tree. This year will be extra special as Cllr & I are going to my family for the day itself so we get to play with our nieces who are 2 and 5 - it's so nice to be with others who are certain that Santa really exists!

I've also been a good girl and filled in what seemed to be the standard sheet on BS: Secret Santa Hints 2004. Hope this helps.

Love & hugs,
Champagne Carol

AW, too bad your never learned to make clickys!

But even so, I shall now give you some hints to my identity.

1. I'm surrounded by bumps.
2. I'm landlocked, and although there is a body of water of considerable size fairly close by it would be quite a journey to reach the ocean. But it could be done.
3. The Ocean mentioned in number 2 is either the Atlantic or the Pacific or both. You can ignore all the others, especially the Arctic.
4. Beer is brewed here.
5. I am either male or female, but not both or neither.
6. I am not located either north or south of 60, although I have lived there.
7. I live on a very large island.

Here I sit in the wilds of Idaho, oh so patiently awaiting your visit, even if you enlist the postal or other delivery service in your assistance. I have been soooooooooooooooo good all year long! Outstanding, in fact. No more of that hanky-panky with sleazy blondes wearing cowboy boots, no sir! I have done Done Good all year long.

But since you know me so well, I was wondering...

Could I call you "Seek"?

As in, "Ol' Seek was awful good to me this year" or "You ain't seen anyone ever as drunk as Ol' Seek was! Musta drunk down two gallons of rotgut!"

I might be able to add some carmel apples to the assortment if you're sure they've all had adequate dental care. Christmas delivery season would be a bad time for emergency tooth repair... Maybe I should package them to take home???

The local deer have some favorite nibbles in the garden. I'll put together a salad of garden leftover healthy treats as well. Rosehips are a big favorite as well as the tansy. My own Santee is getting a few green bits from the garden.

Sorry, luv, but neither the alphabetical nor geographic locator pages will be a bit of help in locating your Santa. Your Santa also has no profile or picture posted. Terry would disapprove.

Port? Good port or that cheap screw-top muck? My honesty is above reproach, but there are exceptions to every rule. Now, methinks you protestith too much; you say its Sunday morning there, yet you posted four minutes after noon Mudcat time. That is officially defined as "sun over the yardarm," so I'd think it was allright.

Well, I've just spent a vacant hour going through this thead & the Hints thread too. I crossed & double-crossed, made a list, tore it up, made another list & got out the tippex. Repaired the first list with sellotape (that's durex to any Ozzies), used a pink high-lighter pen & my conclusions are like this:

There are at least 76 Catters playing although some seem to be strangely silent & perhaps not have as many Reindeer or hidden treasures as we first thought. There are at least 10 possible hopefuls or Red Herrings.

Have observed that there is a Locator Page in order to see at a glace where Catters Live including their postcodes/zips (or flies to us Yookers). However, this list seems to be sadly lacking & could be quite out of date taking into account intercontinental Catter Marriages etc.

My next step on the search for truth is to cross-check the first (repaired or durexed) list against the list of Catters who have been brave enough to post Profiles.

At this point I may be scheduling in a trip around the local charity shops to purchase a relatively recent Atlas of the World having noted that Multimap does not give enough overall information about various continents (or incontinents)

This plan may or may not be of assistance in tracking down my elusive Santa (1,500 miles East of normal location apparently), but it is likely to prove how few Catters involved in playing have actually given enough information within their profiles. (Leadfingers would be so pleased if Catters could get them up to date, though I think Pene Azul may be run ragged if this little scheme of mine works......)

Now on my second bottle of Port on a Sunday Morning when there's chores to be done (see what you guys made me do?) Woe is me......

Yoooooohooooooo, Champagne Carole!

Your secret Santa is hoping for some hints and clues as to what you'd like to get in your stocking besides coal! DO you like sweets? Howsabout some regional specialty from Your Secret Santa's own locale? DO you like to read....go to the cinema? DO you garden? What music do you like. Secret Santa wants to know and also wants know if you;'ve been a GOOD GIRL this year?

Do you even celebrate Christmas? If so, do you keep a tree? If not, what holidays do you celebrate. Secret Santa wants to be politcally correct.

HOHOHO
Oy-veh
Blessed Be
Let the Good times roll

PS. I know Champagne Carole isn't as frequent a poster as some, so if you know her, make her aware she has a Secret Santa, okay?

Dear Guru: your Santa is off for a week visiting Santa's Mom. It was a long trip, since the raindeer are resting up for their big night next month, and the broom is in the shop for maintenence. Santa flew east about 1300 miles from here, but won't get as far as the ocean this time. Addition hints is it? Let me give it a go....Santa has never spent much time on Mudcat before, although is certainly the musician in the family, and had to have lessons on logging in and out...Santa has excellent craft skills, and will be making beaded stuff for at least 2 Secret Santees...any postal cards received will represent either the place they depict or the place from whence they were mailed, but not both (at least not all the time)...anything I say here may or may not be the truth...I haven't seen you in MudChat lately.

Sincerely, MGASSS&LS

Dear Santa & Santa's Partner: Many thanks for the various hints in your last post, am adding them to the growing jig-saw puzzle which as usual will end up with at least one vital piece missing. But I'm guessing that you've been a Santa before and understand the long tortuous route involved in keeping your Santee confused right up until the last. Very much like our 'Morse' or 'Taggart' programs on TV in the UK.

I'm hoping that things aren't a real problem for you just now, your message of 'nothing to worry about' is like saying to someone 'don't look just now'. But maybe you're just real busy at whatever work it is that you're occupied in.

Meanwhile I'm being as good as a person can be when there's chocolate in the fridge & drinks in the cupboard ready for you on Christmas Eve. Have ordered a large tub of Oats to be warmed for your Reindeer, and a few other tasty treats too of course!

More Clues please when you have a chance Mr/Mrs/Ms/Miss Kringle, blessings be upon your workshop.....

bet thanks for telling it like it is! Its true we elves don't get a vocation in November.... work work work. Our next task is to visit ' Old small apple' to locate the last item on santa's list. There Mr BaldEagle is that a clue to our location? We hope to catch the reindeer mail collection by next week.

Aha, so you noticed my deliberate clue (phew, almost slipped up there), will need to start back-pedalling on the clue front or you'll guess me before your parcel is properly packed!

Must admit I had been wondering about the Elves, they've not been themselves since that crate of Port went missing a couple of nights ago - they've been dressing up in cocktail frocks and accessories (fur & feathers) to match. Really quite a worry so close to X-Day as you can imagine. Maybe I should rethink the chocolate sharing, there must be some other way to get them all working propery again - we do have a deadline to meet.

ps. the reindeer are looking forward to their visit & were wondering if you ever happen to have any toffee apples around your person....
