Snuffy, despair not. Santa is running a wee bit slow on holiday preparations since she just finished her first semester of graduate school! I hope to get to the post office this week - if the elves don't arrive in time for Christmas, they'll be there for the New Year.

Merry Christmas ---

Santa

Cllr:

Oh I am overrcome with total SS happiness! Okay, seeing as Pressie Box number one arrived yesterday..Pressie Box number TWO should materialize on or about the 20th. Pressie Box number 3 mightn't arrive in time for Christmas but it will be there shortly after if not on Christmas eve, make sure you keep your eyes peeled forit in the event that you have to go collect it.

Anything that is NOT wrapped can be handed over to Carol as you see fit. The hot beverage was intended for her to ennjoy as she made out christmas cards or pondered Pressies. It is a 'regional' treat that is quite popular these days in Santa's neck of the woods. I'm not all that fond of adultered Tea-type beverages but...everyone else seems to guzzle this stuff by the gallon.

The sweets can be doled out at your discretion. The cookbook and recipe brochures were intended to inspire Holiday cooking. They can be leafed through at will and perhaps carol can tick off the ones she really likes and you could be so kind as to make one of the pies for her.

I can't recall what else was in the box, but it it isn't wrapped, it's up to you to decide when to toss them in her general direction. The thing that looks a bit like a CD,, is in fact, a CD. it's not christmas music though.

Oh..no cat at your house? Well, all the more catnip for some other Puss then. Fine by me, more room for other pressies then.

More cards should arrive soon.

So, as for the books then..I already wrapped a couple of paperbacks but should I leave them out? Are you overwhelmd with books as we speak? Would it not be wise to add to their numbers?

With what little time I have left for deciding what goes in the next box...Oh, help a Santa Out and tell me:

What kind of music would she like? DOn't say 'folk'...be more specific. I will try and stuff in some general Xmas merriment music but as I said, it may not get there in time.

I told you you I would check back frequently 8-) We do not have cats as my brother is allergic and so is carol's sister (I used to have a cat called Pushkin)which is a shame as we like cats. Carol and I were married in '97 and have been together for over ten years. We both read fantasy I have over 3000 as I used to be a bookseller running the scifi section. mind you I have given a lot of books away and i couldnt give an exact figure

Carol is in bed sleeping, its 2-40 in the morning here, and well I dont sleep much -no rest for the wicked- I wil try and think of something funny to say next time I post, ( I will read your post to carol next time she wakes up to take her pain killers. Cllr

Oh 'tis nice to be loved and appreciated. Yup, it is.

I spent a nice day working on the computer and leaning off to wrap pressies when the pages were having hiccups. I found a lot of weird little things to stick in the THIRD Pressie box that don't take up much room.

And, because Cllr has been so nice, I wrapped a little Pressie for HIM too. The only gifts for Anyone other than Carol are the ones that have tags on them to say who they are for. All the ones without tags are for Carol. it is a very proper gift for someone who goes by the Nick Cllr, btw.

Question..have you a cat? If so, has the cat been very good? Santa doesn't want to leave out the feline members of the household. So long as the cat has been a good mouser and isn't named marmalade...the cat is elgible to win the Pressie Sweepstakes too.

It sounds as if you and Carol have been married about as long as I have. I just a few days ago celebrated the 8th anniversary of my FIRST wedding to Mr. Santa. Today is the 8th Anniverary of my Second Wedding to Mr. Santa and in April, we have a third Eighth Anniversary. Only one Anniversary card has arrived however..from the Erzats mother of the Bride from weddings one and two. Her hubby, Gil Kane, walked me down the Aisle. I'll send a wedding photo in the next pressie box. Alas, Gil has passed on, but I still look at the wedding photos often and smile. It was a great day. Both of them! The one on the 14th was our big hoopla wedding.

This is a hint at my identity btw...Gil Kane didn't walk any other girl down the aisle ever, not even his own daughter. The wedding was written up in certain Genre publishing circles and since Carol reads genre fiction...maybe she might know some of the people I Know. the wedidng was held at the home of an actor whose first speaking role was in the PBS production of LATHE OF HEAVEN way back when. Sadly, the man who married us pased away this summer. He married about 40 professional coupls of writers/artists/directors/etc. within science Fiction/fantasy/Horror/Filmmaking.

I hope that the second Pressie box gets there soon. It has lots of goodies..none wrapped...all to be enjoyed immediately! I wanted to put a huge Chestnut panatone in Pressie box number 3 but my Hubbie threatened to smash it to bits if I tried. he said a three pund tin of panatone was too much. So what am I supposed to do with this behemoth Panatone my mother spend $70 on? I can't fercrissakes eat it. I don't DO panatone. My mother, in a momentary lapse of sanity, forgot we are Irish.

She does this every now and then because when we were wee babes, she was stuck in a neighborhood of all Italians because My daddie was assigned to that locale.( NOT in italy mind you) Nobody spoke English, just Italian and they all ate Panatone. My sister learned to speak Italain before she spoke English. Thye assumed My mother was Italian on account of her jet black hair and promptly taught her to cultivate Aubergines. As a result, she is better at making Rice-Ricotta pie than a proper soda-Bread.

So, here I sit with a Giant Chestnut Panatone.

Back to wrapping Pressies. Hopefully carol shall get my Getweel card soon. I put in another photo I believe. By the time I'm done, she can paper her walls with my visage.

Very truly,
carol's SS.

Oh Yay! Some of my stuff is arriving! YAY I say, Yay!

Well, the post-card and Pressie box number ONE were sent on the same day so THAT should bode well for Carole's imminent happiness.

Pressie Box number TWO which contains Get Well Cheer is in the wind and once you get Pressie Box number ONE, I should be able to estimate for you when Pressie box 2 should arrive.

SO, SO sorry to hear that my little darling Santee is hurting. I suppose I can hit up an elf for some magic elf dust but..what with Customs and all...not a good plan.

Well now, Cllr...did you tell her my identity or are you making her guess? Did you get my photo? The photo of my Dog??

You see what happens, tell me a little and I want to here MORE! MORE! MORE!!!!

I'm going to shuffle off for a few hours and wrap Pressies.

La la lalalala...I'm a happy Santa, a very contented Santa....la la lalalalala... loo loolololoo..lalalalalala..Happy Santa, Happy Snanta..la la la! (singing like Babe the piglet)

FWEEP *small carol noise* she can now take more pain killers and is leaping off to bed again.    (dictatd by CC and written by Champagne carols silly secret typer)

So glad to hear from you, My guru always said! I know she's not a frequent Mudcat poster, and that she's been under the weather. Still, A Santa gets sad from time to time.

I hear she is a VERY good girl and she should betting some nice Pressies anytime soon. The last Pressie box is nearing completion and should be the best pressie box yet.

All my little christmas spies say the same thing: She is a sweet girl who deserves lots of nice things and NO COAL!

I want to send her some music in this Pressie box but not sure what types to send. I'll just guess unless you might have some ideas.

I hate the we have to declare the contents for customs. I try to be minimal in my descriptions but....

Drat those customes people.

Thanks a bunch

A much happier

Dear Charmion,

Sincere apologies for any delay in the dispatch of your gift, we have had a small administrational hiccup here. Seems a band of rogue elves decided it would be amusing to deliver presents to the children on the 'naughty' list this year. Of course we try very hard to be inclusive in all our seasonal endeavours but feel that rehabilitation rather than encouragement is the way forward for some of our more behaviourally uninhibited participants. Also reindeer hijack is strictly against our policy especially as it can be very difficult to reintegrate them into the team after such an ordeal and subsequently they may not be fully embraced by our 'reindeer games' scheme. Please be assured however, that counselling will be made available and this unfortunate incident has now been put firmly behind us. I am also pleased to inform you that your present is currently on its way to you and should arrive in plenty of time for Christmas.

Best festive wishes to you, ho ho ho an' all that
Santa

Good News! Olive (the other reindeer) has pursueded Rudolph to haul the Elephant. Since he is the union rep for the local RMCP (Ruminant Mail Carriers, Primitive) I expect the package to go out today.

You may open the exterior as the interior is filled with red and green things wrapped around other things.

Fret thee not Mrs Cobble. Your Secret Santa hasn't absconded to Mars, Hershey's, Tunnock's, Marathon's or any other bar for a swift scoop.

Indeed the helpers were very busy yesterday and the Elves should, at this very moment, be trying to find the legendary Hamlet of the Goolies on their (I fear) somewhat mediaeval map of the Peoples' Republic of Olde Yorkshire.

More clues? But you said you had already guessed me! I guess not? Oh very well then...

The following things may lead you to me: Blondel, a labyrinthe, A447, memes, Else Garnett

Don't forget to leave a little traikle parkin for me with the sherry by the fireplace...I need the energy for my long night's work!

Nothing if not pedantic that old fool.

Finally got the lid nailed down on that box of . . . oh, you'll just have to wait and find out. But I hope they don't eat through the . . . oh, this is too much information, I think.

The elves were outfitted with whips and leather and got the ol' flying reindeer saddled up and ready to go yesterday. I think they scrounged an old WWII reconnaissance map -- hope it's got your street on it. They seemed reasonably confident. You DO have a chimney, don't you?!?

Maybe they'll just leave it at the local post office. Haven't a clue as to how long it will take to get there; but it's out of my hands now. (I think the elves had a piece of ginger to place under the reindeer's tail . . .)

Hope you've got a pair of welding gloves and a rabies stick . . .

Oh, and ENJOY!

On wings of song??? oh barf.

Gee, If I set a pressie afloat in the ocean, I'd suggest the Narwhales play water Volleyball with it all the way to the shores of merry ole england. They could use their Unicorn horns and tip it from one whale to the next, never letting it touch the water....much!

Isn't that a great image..a fleet of narwhales going : Doink...Poink...doink..poink...poink-poink..doink!
Of course, if one tries to spike it, there goes the Pressie! D'OH!

You were doing good there with the musher dogs and the moose..all till you got to the wings of song. That's way too Debbie Boone for me.

How about four Cormorants each with the edge of a hamock in their beaks ferrying the pressie or' the sea?

Or some polar bears in a Kayack?

Walruses on Wind-surfboards?

Coyotes on jet skis?

Prairie Dogs in a Hot-air balloon?

Armadillos in a Zeppelin?

Grey Aliens in a 'Weather Balloon'??

The chupacabra in a saddle riding Nessie?

On wings of a song...you must be a romantic kind of secret santa. The kind what sends poems!

No harm in that really...I just like the idea of armadillos sailing about in a great air ship and taking your santee's pressie and dropping it down her chimney: PLUNK! Bombs away! Look out Beloooow! Fire in The Hole!

Hehe.

The sled dogs will carry it throught the snow. afterwhich the moose will transport said gifts to the great sea, whereupon the package will wend its way Yorkshireward on wings of song to your abode.

Yo-ho-Ho and a bottle of Egg Nog!

Giving it one last try for the next ohhh...10 hours or so. Cllr, Carole...anyone who knows them.....

I'm gonna simply guess that Champagne Carole has a cat and add a gift for the Puss to the next pressie box. If she doesn't, Cllr can simply go out to the garden gate and holler:

MARMALADE!

Some ginger cat is bound to come and partake of the treats.

Putting together the extravagent Pressie box at present - it may be the last...all depends on Cllr, Champagne Carole and their Mudcat pals.

Butter me up, ply me with compliments, impress me with stories of Champagne Carole's stunning goodness and she may get more. Somebody play the game with me, please????

I don't care what your relation to Carole is...just tell me about her! All Cllr had to do was say she wasn't well and I sent off another entire box. I'm a pushover Secret Pirate Santa. It doesn't take much to get me in the giving mood.

So sorry to hear she's feeling badly. Her Secret Pirate Santa sent some Get Well Wishes today. I hope Cllr does tell me when Pressie Box number one arrives for her.

I am , however, disappointed to hear from other Mudcatters that those pesky customs invoices spoil the game when it comes to Pressie contents. Oh BOO on customs. Big Spoilers. Can't they see we're playing a GAME here? I'll have to be more cryptic in my reponses next time.

Well..it's back to wrapping.

Nope, John.

Not Maggies Baby Girl whomever she might be.

But thank you for playing!

Anyone else care to hazard a guess? If Cllr and Carole can't play, you are all welcome to try!

I'll toss an extra little goody in the next Pressie Box for Carole for every Mudcatter who plays along with me. The more of you who play, the more goodies for Carole & Cllr. Obviously I'm desperate for attention. Nothing worse than an emotionally needy Secret Pirate/Santa, eh?

(Of course if every mudcatter plays along...I'll go broke on postage, but somehow I don't believe that will be the case)

Any one of Cllr and Carole's pals is welcome to give me hints and/or suggestions for things to stuff in the next box.

Do they have cats? Dogs? Some collection of odd things that requires adding to?

Out of left field//what size belt does Cllr wear?

I found a hand-tooled belt in my box of odd gifts I bought and never sent to the intended party and if it's the right size, Cllr wins the abandoned xmas gift sweepstakes.

I am rather bad about buying gifts all year long and then forgetting to mail some. Those forgotten gifts get tossed into a big box from which I pulll one whenever I am in need of an instant gift. Unfortunately, or fortunately as the case may be for Carole & Cllr, it's overflowing this year. Not lots of music, but lots of clothing, accessories, knick-knacks and doodads.

Well, I'm off to get another package to a gal I know who collects postcards and also to send some Saffron to a gal named Saffron. Pirate Santa is busy today. However..not so busy that He/She won't be checking back throughout the day to see who wants to play!

Pressie report for Cllr to bring to Champagne Carole:

Box Number two herafter referred to as the Holdiay Cheer Box has left the building and been handed off to an Pirate, Peg-leg Pierce (not an elf) to place into the postal system.

Nothing in it is wrapped...it's all for immediate consumption in reasonable amounts. When you get it, put on a pot of water and have a tea-party! Invite the neighbors! I was careful this time to only put my street address on the box - no name.

I did however put in a another photo of me near the area where the 2 bags of chocolate covered somethings were popularised. Now, I am not FROM that area, but I once roomed with somebody who was and their Dad always brought us these chocolate covered things as a treat when he visited. So..they aren't MY regional sweet but they are A regional sweet. Does that count as meeting Carole's request for regional Sweets?

The other 2 boxes of sweet things within the Holiday Cheer Box ARE pretty popular where I live and are usually dunked into some type of silly overwrought coffee beverage. Me, I prefer my tea, but then again, am not FROM where I now reside. Where I live, everyone drinks trendy coffee concotions and yet, nnone of them have probably ever had a proper cup of coffee in their silly little lives. Where I reside now, people also spend small fortunes on silly brand-named bottles of water...all of which is indistiguishable from tap-water but perhaps paying $4 a liter makes them feel superior and priviliged.

Do you and Champage Carole have a dog? A cat? Santa wouldn't want to leave th critters out in the cold with no Presssies of their very own! No, he/she would certianly not!

Since Cllr encouraged me with that tiny little hint..I'll be checking in all weekend for more requests. Santa wants to hear..what do you think Champagne Carole would like?

The more you post, the more I'll send.

THANKYOU Cllr. Man. I was sweatin' there. I realize that I've been scarce myself, but when I finally tried to play I was fearful that she and you gave up on me!

I, as of yet, have not heard from any alleged SS for me, but then again...I didn't really expect one. I also didn't bother to post a freaking thing about msyelf so....ya gets what ya pays for or what yas play for as the case may be.

Now Champagne Carole on the other hand....OK. I went to My favorite place to load up on 'regional sweets' and snagged a bunch of things that are popular in my neck of the woods as well as some holiday tea. I think I'll not be wrapping that...just posting it in a big Get Well Holiday Box. Don't let her eat too many of the sweets though. Not good when you're feeling badly.

The more you tell me Cllr, the more stuff I'll send. That's the way it works. Flatter me, tease me, beg me, plead me and Champange Carole wins the jackpot. I'll check in for another week to see how much you butter me up. The more you post, the more I'll reward your Carole! If she can't play, you can!

I looked into sending some actual champagne but that might be a logistical nightmare. I'll still try. The way I look at it, I have until Twelth Night to get it all to her.

One Pressie Box was put into the postal system Monday so you should see some evidence of it along with a postcard quite soon. If you open it Cllr, you can keep my identity secret a tad longer. I foolishly assumed I'd send just one box so I blew it and enclosed a photo and my name. You can steal it if you want to preserve the game.

I sent a Christmas card as well but that too has my addy on it. I worry to much about things going astray. If you intercept these things, you can hand them all to her at once on Christmas eve.

However, anything NOT wrapped is intended to boost the Holiday Cheer at Chez Champagne Carole & Cllr. Feel free to ransack the unwrapped gifts.

I'm hard at work on the sweets, treats and Tea box right now. It should help Champagne Carole's recovery immensly.

Incidentally, Donner knows all about feeling badly. The whole Troupe of Reindeer had Flu earlier this month. Perhpas he'll go a little faster knowing that Champagne Carole is under the weather. There IS something in the first Pressie box that should also help with that. It's unwrapped. You'll see.

A much relieved SS

Now...is there anything Cllr might want from Champagne Carole's very generous SS? Ask and ye might receive.

Carole Luv:

Sorry but I have pressing business her at The North Pole. I won't be able to check back until Saturday Morning. Afer that...whatever Pressies are gonna head you way will have to go out the door. So...

Any last requests?

I've srpinkled some hints ALL OVER THE MUDCAT so look high and look low and I'll be in Scotland before ye.

That's not a hint, btw.

Satna baby needs to know:
what size T-shirt
do you like girly stuff - face paint, fragrant liquids, etc.
do you drink coffee and if so how..don't say out of a cup..tell me how you MAKE IT.
If not what DO you drink besides Champagne
Do you wear hats/caps?

after I check in one last time saturday...all pressie must get stuffd into a box and strapped to another reindeer.

If you want to prolong the game, do NOT open any notes or cards thsat come in Pressie box one. Put them aside. If you don't care and can't stand the suspense..well, then...you'll find out soon enough!

There's still the msyery of just what IS the object that could be mistaken for Soap that is in fact, NOT SOAP and should not be mistaken for soap under any circumstances lest disaster befall Ye. That ought to keep you up at night.

Remember: NOT SOAP!

repeat that several times a day until presents are opened.

Champagne Carole's impatient Secret Santa
now leaving to go lock him/herself into the workshop for the rest of the day to manufacture another pressie.

let's see if I can leave ONE more hint.

Hmmm..think PURPLE

Dearest Champagne Carole:

What size T-shirt do you prefer? I usually send out size XL to most people since many folks like theirs a little big and afterall, cotton does shrink a bit in the wash.

However, I have a really special T-shirt in the workshop which a person couldn't buy if they tried that is in a women's size Large. Very spiffy. It's a Crew T-shirt from a certain now defunct Fantasy-action TV show filmed in New Zealand and...other matching accessories to go with it.

Would little Champagne Carole like something like this under her tree?

Cllr can answer for her.

Your Santa doesn't check in all that often, I know, but I will check back a few more times this week! Any replies from you or Cller would be greatly appreciated.

Much love,
Santa

And a very heavy package it is! Can't wait to disembowel open it... it must have cost a near fortune to send!

Relax, my dear, Santa hasn't forgotten you. It has been a little busy here at the workshop, but just this week I had messengers dispatch your bundle with the promise that it would be there within seven spins of the globe. By the 14th, they say, they will place these goodies in your own two hands!

Frazzled Santa (looking forward to the 26th and kicking back with a nice Reisling and a plate of smoked salmon--you can keep the cookies and milk!)

Champagne Carole told me this:

>>>Dear Secret Santa,

I have been a very good girl this year, well, mostly!

I love sweets and would adore a regional specialty! I love reading, although I prefer to read stuff that gets me away from real life and has happy endings, I guess I never grew out of fairy stories! I go to the cinema occasionally, often to avoid gardening - actually I like nice gardens, but I never seem to have time to work in my own. I tend to like bouncy music that cheers me up when I hear it or lovely relaxing music to make me purr.

I do celebrate Christmas, I'm like a big kid with it. I decorate the house to within an inch of it's life in gold, red and green as early in December as I can get away with it, and I definitely have a tree. This year will be extra special as Cllr & I are going to my family for the day itself so we get to play with our nieces who are 2 and 5 - it's so nice to be with others who are certain that Santa really exists!

I've also been a good girl and filled in what seemed to be the standard sheet on BS: Secret Santa Hints 2004. Hope this helps.

Love & hugs,
Champagne Carol<<<

Awwww....what a sweet letter! And from a sweet little girl no less. Santa knows you've been good and has already sent one box of Pressies and yes, there are sweets. I didn't wrap the sweets so you can have them as soon as you open the box! There is also a beverage to go WITH the sweets which you can sip and ponder the wrapped pressies for the rest of the month!

Another box is being prepared as we speak. Post when you get your first box! They have a looooooooong way to travel, maybe 6,000 miles?

regional sweets, eh? I can do that. Next box though.

Just remember:

NOT SOAP!

NOT SOAP!

NOT SOAP!
