Eh up y'all. Does anyone remember Pete Royle from the Manchester area (used to run a folk club at Newton Heath Cricket club yonks ago) and he used to sing a song called 'Rubens'? Does anyone (maybe even Pete if you're reading this) know the lyrics. A mate of mine (the great Len of Newhey) knows the tune but he don't have the words.

Can you give us any idea of what the song is about? Can you quote any lines from it?

Hi Jim, i'm told some of the words are:

'The man who played piano, the music came up my corridor,
The rythyme and the harmony etc....
I never got to know the man and I didn`t
even know his name.
So I gave him the name of Ruben, Gave him the name of
Ruben.
Ruben seemed a gentle name for a man with a gentle hand...'

I wasn't able to find any lyrics, but...
I found a Peter Royle in the UK who has posted messages and his email address at a lyrics site. Click here. Warning: pop-ups on that page.
