Subject: Lyr Req: Sierra - lyrics by John Denver

As some of you know, I host a website: Blackcatter's World of TV Theme Lyrics

And am constantly looking for lyrics for the site. Gonna post some request here. Was thinking about putting a whole bunch in one thread, but they're from different generes so hopefully listing a bunch seperately will work better.

------------------

Sierra (adventure)

(NBC Primetime, 1974)
Jack Webb's "Mark VII" production company produced this series about the adventures of Park Rangers in the Sierra Mountains; Despite Webb's production touch and a THEME sung by John Denver, competition from the popular series "The Waltons" on another mountain, beat out "Sierra"; and it folded after 13 weeks;
Theme: "Sierra (Theme From The TV Series)"
Composers: Lee Elwood Holdridge, and John Denver
POSSIBLE: John Denver wrote SIERRA's theme song but Denny Brooks, a long time friend of Denver's and acoustical guitarist, sang it.

Possible lyrics:

Sierra majesty, beneath the skies.
Sierra wilderness, where eagles fly.
She is my Life to me, she is my Home.
Her Children comfort me, when I'm alone.

Sierra come with me, to meet my Friend,
Sierra learn with me, where Life began.
There is so much to Know, so much to See.
Come share my Mountain home.
Come share my Life with me.

great! thanks, Blackcatter ... I've been wondering about these lyrics for a long time ... I loved "Sierra" - didn't realise it only ran for thirteen weeks; and to think it was ousted by The Waltons - there's no comparison ...

Despite the short lived "Sierra" series, it's theme song is one that I know by heart. I would like to see reruns on TV

"Sierra", was a big hit for all of us who watched it on TV. I wish there was more of that kind of programing on television instead of the garbage shows where somebody is subject to various forms of violence and the crappy sitcoms that don't make me laugh.

Theme songs from television shows, as well as TV in general, and bands of the 70's were mainstream for that era. As John Denver would have said... Far out!

Picture yourself camping in Yosemite Park, and then having park cops harassing you to ruin your day. To hell with "Sierra"
