Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Steve Allen shows theme songs by Allen From: Jim Dixon Date: 21 Oct 04 - 06:50 PM For the others, the best I could do was to transcribe a few words from a sound sample: * * * Marlene Ver Planck recorded GO FLY A KITE on her album "A Breath of Fresh Air," 1968 (reissued as Audiophile CD #109). ...it's up to me, my darlin' Better believe that up my sleeve there's an ace What'll you say if right(?) today, my darlin'.... * * * Marilyn Maye's recording of I LOVE YOU TODAY is on "Meet Marvelous Marilyn Maye/The Lamp Is Low," (2 LPs reissued as one CD), Collectables #2807, 2001. ...the tree in the meadow, the lark in the blue Will see the lovely fire of my desire for you. Hello there, my friend. I love you today. My heart.... * * * George Bugatti sings MR. MOON on his album "Oh, What a Night for Love: The Steve Allen Songbook," Sea Breeze CD #3026, 1998. ...if I express my views. Mr. Moon, I want to tell you something. Subject: Lyr Add: IMPOSSIBLE (Steve Allen) From: Jim Dixon Date: 21 Oct 04 - 06:42 PM Copied from http://ntl.matrix.com.br/pfilho/html/english/nkc/lyrics/impossible.txt IMPOSSIBLE Steve Allen, 1956 (As sung by Nat King Cole) If they had ever told me how sweet a kiss could be, I would have said, "Impossible; impossible for me." And if they said I'd find you beyond the rainbow's end, I would have said, "Impossible; impossible, my friend." To dream about what might have been is strange enough for me But now it seems I'm living in a dream too beautiful to be. If they had said a moonbeam could calm a stormy sea, I would have said, "Impossible," but now at last I see That nothing is impossible if you are here with me. [instrumental interlude] I would have said, "Impossible," but now at last I see That nothing is impossible if you are here with me. |
