I would just like to say that I am a descendant of Richard McKay who wrote Sweet Carnlough Bay . He was known as the Antrim Bard and was born about 1800.He moved with his family from Armagh about 1846 to Blairgowrie Scotland where he lived out the rest of his life as a hawker in and around Scotland. He is buried in his family plot in Blairgowrie. It was always the family's opinion that he wrote the Road and the Miles to Dundee which is in fact very similar to Sweet Carnlough Bay.Does anyone know of Richard and any other songs he has written? Molly

Molly,

Look here Lyr Req: Irish version of the Road to Dundee for more information on both songs. There are also plenty of links there to click on.
