Subject: Slotchbar- what is it? From: Q (Frank Staplin) Date: 22 Oct 04 - 11:20 PM After my daily dose of Mudcat and a bit of internet scanning for lyrics, I often get these in the Spyware Doctor list. They are removable, but what are they? Information would be appreciated. Slotchbar. Registry scanner. Variant of 1stBar/xx---. Location in HKLM SOFTWARE\Microsoft download---. Gives an orange danger mark on the scan. Afternet Software. Registry scanner. Loc. HKCLA\Software\hotbar--- Hotbar General Scanner. Multiple locations ---. Low risk color mark. A little more info. is given on these, but not all shows (or on the last one, I forgot to get all data). Only the first shows a heightened danger signal. |

I would guess this is from Internet Explorer. Low danger mark. Tracking Cookie- I presume this is from Mudcat. |

Subject: RE: Slotchbar- what is it? From: Q (Frank Staplin) Date: 23 Oct 04 - 03:01 PM Thanks, Jeff. They give me some idea about them. The 'slotchbar' info seems to imply that I have given or may give them permission, but as near as I can tell, it just shows up occasionaly on a scan and doesn't seem to have done anything or added anything visible. Has anyone encountered it as a problem? |

Subject: RE: Slotchbar- what is it? From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 23 Oct 04 - 03:14 PM I'd have thought it was a low drinking den. Or an obscure musical term. Or a vulgar insult. Good word anyway. Rolls round the mouth, and then you spit it out. Sounds as if it might be Klingon. |

Subject: RE: Slotchbar- what is it? From: leeneia Date: 23 Oct 04 - 11:07 PM I decided to see if they have been downloaded on to my computer, so I told Find to find anything named Slotchbar, and it found nothing. So I don't think it has anything to do with the Mudcat. Perhaps it's a German adjective, similar to wunderbar (wonderful) or dankbar (thankful). Just a thought. |
