Does anyone know the lyrics to this Scottish song?

Some words I got: "When the sun had gone down on (?) dark Western Island....." It's difficult to follow all the words. Andy Stewart always sings with a Scottish accent.

With regards.

Teru

Well, Teru, you'd figure I'd have it, now wouldn't you? 8-) I have no time now, but I will dig that marvelous old Andy Stewart album out again, and get them for you, just don't know when. Of course, if anyone wants to beat me to it, they are welcome!

By the way, I see that they have added Heart of Midlothian to the data base.

Hi,

From memory I'm nearly sure this was on the B side to "Donald where's your troosers."

Teru, I had more trouble with this than I thought I would. I found four Andy Stewart albums, I'm Off To Bonnie Scotland, I Love A Lassie, Andy Stewart's Scotland, and Andy Stewart On Stage. I know I have more, but some are not so easy to dig out. On the On Stage Live album, he does a Dancing in Kyle medley of Dearest My Own One, Morag A Dunbheagan, and Dancing In Kyle. If this is what you want, I am afraid that some of it is beyond me. I have no Gaelic whatsoever, but the other two parts I could get most of, though the place names would be a guess as to how to spell them.

However, all is not lost. I found a site with the words to many folk songs, both in English and German. I know you have an especial liking for Scottish music, so I have linked you to the Scottish section, where you can see what else he has there, and can go down to the words for Dancing In Kyle. They are only a little different than Andy's version, mostly in the order of the names given. Andy only does the first and third verses on the medley I have. Let me know if it is the entire medley that you want. I can do the Dearest My Own One parts.

Also let me know how you make out with those lyrics on his site.

Thank you, Dale.

I got the lyrics in the site you'd written above. Yes, they are somewhat different from those in Anddy's version. I have a CD "Andy's Scottish Party" recorded in Aberdeen. He sings whole verses in the CD. Ken Masons in the second verse has been replaced by someone else, but It doesn't matter. I'm satisfied with the lyrics.

Thanks again.

Teru, Japan
